small box. Inside this box are different words.
I will call set of pupils to pick up words and arrange
them in alphabetical order.
Do you get it? Yes, we do.

Do you know that there is something behind
these hearts? Do you want to know what is it? Yes, we do.
(The teacher will show the hidden thing.)
What is the thing behind the hearts? Money is the thing
behind the hearts.
2. Unlocking of Difficulties
This morning, we will read a story. But
before that, let us first know the meaning
of the difficult words that you may encounter
in the story.
a. bill (through real objects)
- a piece of paper money
b. store (through picture)
- a place where something is sold.
c. storekeeper (through picture)

1.1. Setting of Standards
I will read a story. But before that, what
are the things that you should remember while
listening to a story? Sit properly.
Don’t talk to your
seatmates.
Understand the story.
1. 2. Telling the Story
(The teacher will read the story through
powerpoint presentation.)
Mother asked Lara to buy eggs from the
store. She bought 3 pieces of eggs for 15
pesos. She gave the storekeeper a 20-peso
bill. Then, the storekeeper gave her 10
pesos as her change. Lara stopped and
looked at the 10 pesos on her hand.
Do you understand the story? Yes, we do.
2. Post-Reading
1. Comprehension Check Up
Let us see if you really understand the story.
I have here lollipops with strips of paper. The
paper contains a question. I will call someone
to answer the question. If you answer it correctly,
you could have the lollipop!

give Lara? only give Lara 5 pesos.
7. If you were Lara, what would you do If I were Lara, I would
after the storekeeper gave you the give the excess change

2. Valuing
What character trait does the story show? The story shows
honesty.
That’s right!
Did you also experience what Lara experienced? Yes, we did.
What did you do then? I also returned the
excess change to the
storekeeper.
Class, honesty is not just being shown by giving
back excess change. We should also show it in
other situations. If you are honest, people will surely
trust you. Remember that “Honesty is the best
policy.”
E. Skill Focus
Class, let us go back to the story of Lara.
Do you think the story has a complete ending? No.
That’s right!
Now, let us think of the ending for the story.
What do you think happened next after Lara
received the change? Lara went back to the store and
returned the 5 pesos to the
storekeeper.
Class, what we did was, we thought of what
would happen next in the story.
We call it “Predicting Outcome”
(The teacher will write the word “Predicting
Outcome” on the board.)
Predicting outcome means thinking what
will happen next.
From the given story, how did you predict
what Lara did next? I predicted what Lara did next
because I experienced it also.
I used the events that happened
in the story that’s why I was able
to predict what happened next.
Very good.

the events that happened in the given story or
