5. What is a “Board”?
Users categorize their favorite things into
subgroups called “boards” that organize their
pins.
Boards help you arrange your profile for easy
reference by grouping common things together
Example: Recipes, DIY Decorations, Wedding Ideas,
Photography
“Users can save individual pins to one of their own
boards using the "Pin It" button, with Pinboards
typically organized by a central topic or theme.” -
Silbermann (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinterest)

Pinterest is a social media network that allows users to share ideas and common interest with each other. These ideas and interests can be “Pinned” and categorized into boards that organize your interests into genres and common themes.
Ben Silbermann, Paul Sciarra and Evan Sharp founded pinterest and launched it in March of 2010 as an invite only beta meaning one had to be invited through email by an existing user. After a successful trial run the full website opened to the public in August 2012 and now anyone can join.Hyperlink to Pinterests About Page
Allows people to get/share ideas with other people who have the same interests.Great for last minute gift ideas, do it your self projects, arts and crafts, food recipes, and even to just browse pictures from your favorite books, movies, etc.
Pins are little pictures that show a thumbnail image of whatever it is your looking for, your then able to click on the pin and see the details.Usually a picture of the completed project. For example: Food recipe, the pin will be a picture of the food, clicking on the pin will bring you to the recipe itself and the ingredients that you will need. Sometimes the recipe page will even have a comment or ask box incase you have questions on the recipe.Click on link & sign in, show and explain home page.Next tell about boards.

Benefits of Pinterest include sharing your ideas and getting to communicate with people who have common interests and hobbies. It is a great source for anything from last minute gist ideas to a reference for weddings and interior design.
Pinterest vs. its competitors. Pinterest has many competitors including Pinspire, I wanna Nom, Stylepin, Everplaces, and Dudepins. What sets Pinterest apart from it’s competitors is that it has much more to offer in terms of interest,For Example: I Wanna Nom only contains food recipes and ideasStylepin is only for people interested in clothing and fashionEverplace’s target audience is people who are interested in travel food and designDudepins of course, is meant for a male audiencePinterest offers a much broader variety of ideas and interests. It has all of these things and more.
Pinterest does not have one particular intended audience, they appeal to everyone. Whether you’re a grandmother looking for gardening tips, a mom looking for creative ideas for your child's birthday party, or a tattoo artist looking for the newest ideas and trends pinterest is the place for you. Some of the many things pinterest has to offer is: Hair & Beauty, Sports, Geek (Comic strips, cosplay, etc.), Men’s Fashion, Tattoos, Photography, Architecture. These are only a few of the categories that you can browse on Pinterest, if you go on they’re home page you can see that they literally have almost every category that you could think of which makes them much more diverse than their competitors.
You can get pinterest by going on pinterest.comOr get the App by going to the android marketplace or the iTunes store on your smartphones.
