Amazon Web Services: What are they? The Amazon Web Services (AWS) are a collection of remote computing services (also called web services) offered over the Internet by Amazon.com as a result of an 11 year and $2 billion dollar investment by the company and was developed with the following characteristics in mind: Originally launched in July of 2002, it has over the years grown to encompass several individual services built using REST and SOAP interfaces to allow for development on any internet platform. ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
