  8. So is golf, baseball and soccer.
  9. Not a team sport… really? Again, neither is any other individual sport (tennis, track, swimming/diving, NASCAR, MMA)
  10. Not a lifelong sport… Favre showed us any sport is lifelong sport. Veterans nat ’ls. Most sports aren’t…. Football, MMA, NASCAR
  11. Media doesn ’t care… Reporters are lazy
  12. Same team wins every year… reason football, baseball and basketball are such obscure sports
  13. Not fan friendly… dual is 2 hours, 9 bathroom breaks, if one match is blowout you can look forward to the next one.
  14. Too busy… not anymore. Riot solves this problem.
  15. Major sport! Iowa, and Minnesota have all produced 15K plus fans for one match (In fact Iowa had those crowds back in 1978 when they the Banach brothers, Randy Lewis, Jimmy Zalesky etc.  Iowa State produced a crowd of 14,700 and a few over 14,000.  Penn St. produced a crowd of over 11K, (I was there) and numerous crowds of 8,7 and 6500.  Fresno State, Oklahoma St. and Oklahoma have produced crowds of 10K plus.   Arizona St., UNC and Maryland have produced 6K plus.  Lehigh has had many 5K plus (that is all the arena holds)!  Army, Navy, Edinboro and Clarion have produced 4k plus (I promoted an Army vs Navy match myself with 4300 fans), the largest crowd ever to see a match at West point.  LHU, Bloomsburg, have produced many 3k plus fans.  So the $64,000 question is:  why are there only 315 college programs?

HOW: Roon Arledge Quote: television has done a remarkable job of bringing the game to the viewer—now we are going to take the viewer to the game!! we have a supply of human drama that would make the producer of a dramatic show drool. All we have to do is find and insert it in our game coverage at the proper moment. we will have pre-shot film of the campus and the stadium so we can orient the viewer. He must know he is in Columbus, Ohio , where the town is football mad; or that he is part of a small but wildly enthusiastic crowd at Corvallis , Oregon .... Then the viewer must meet the players, but he will meet them as he would if he were at the game. This will be accomplished by using a blowup of the cover of the actual game program and introducing the individual players by means of pictures of them in their normal street attire...
