Persuasive Essay About Volunteering
Essay Prompt #3 At first, I wasn't the person for me to volunteer. When I was in middle school, my
parents always made me volunteer at places like schools and hospitals. I always went with the flow
with my parents. I didn't want to argue with them. As the hours of volunteering were stacking up, I
began to notice something about the world around me. The environment that I volunteered in is an
environment that if my family would live in it, my eyes would tear up. The environment I work
in is a place where people don't earn enough money, children live with divorced parents, and the
problem of affording food was a topic I overhear. Working in these places, I realize that the world we
live is imperfect. I live in a place where my parents feed me, I can do laundry, and when I'm done
with homework, I can watch TV. These people who fall in poverty, have a history of illness, or are
just trying to make their way in the world ought to live better lives regardless of their backgrounds. I
want people to have better lives despite the fact that the world we live in can never fully satisfy
us. I believe that through volunteering, my works and actions can impact the lives of these people.
Right now, I am just a student and I believe the first steps of making the world a better place is in
volunteering and serving people who are in need.

Persuasive Writing Prompt November 2017 "People never learn anything by being told, they
have to find out for themselves." This quote was from Paulo Coelho, a lyricist, and novelist. This
quote explains why I want to experience Sano Japan. I want to know what Sano Japan is like, I
want to experience its culture, atmosphere and more. I want to go because things like books and
YouTube videos, just don't show what it is really like there. The only way you can actually
experience it is by being there in person like the quote says. I have grown up in Lancaster for all my
life, I grew up in a family that wasn't as great as others. My parents both were people who really
wanted to go to college, but the cost was just too great for them. This however...show more content...
I could "go anywhere" without going anywhere, if you know what I mean. I love to experience
new things, it is one of my favorite things to do. This trip would mean a lot to me because it
would be the best way for me to experience life and learn. I can talk about how amazing my grades
are and how they are always straight As. However, that wouldn't be that helpful. Well, they do help
but I am more than that. I am a dedicated person. Once I set my eyes on something, I won't stop
until I've done it and done it well. I have my parents to thank for that. This dedication helped me
excel in school. Learning came easily to me. I am also a courteous and kind person. You do not
have to worry about me messing around and disrespecting the people of Sano Japan. This doesn't
mean I can't have fun. I can get along with people, no matter who they are. I was a shy kid, who
didn't like to talk a lot, however, my friends have brought out who I really was. I could talk more
about my qualities that would make me the best choice for student ambassador, however like what
your favorite and hated singer Justin Bieber said, "I made mistakes growing up. I'm not perfect; I'm
not a robot." I am not perfect, like the

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate
actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay
needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed,
I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as
well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the
weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these
suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive
essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay
would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not
being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that
wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be
persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the
experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your
readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing
your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument
was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why
I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this
helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would
have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but
one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more
clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my
clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a
persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers
can have a full understanding of your

Persuasive Short Stories
As we are nearing our destination our bus driver yells out "I am going to stop at this gas station
and fill up." When our bus driver came back onto the bus he exclaimed "The gas station is out of
gasoline so we will stay here overnight." Then, everyone in the bus started grunting and moaning.
"But guys we can make this fun if we tell stories to pass the time, Here, I will start." I said. And we
began telling each other our stories. "Can we please adopt this one, Mom? Pretty please, he is so
cute! With his bright green eyes and his pink little nose," said Jacob, a thirteen year old boy with
red hair. "After this we will be pretty much bankrupt," said Jacob's mom, with her deep blue eyes
staring into Jacob's "Please just this one thats all," said Jacob "Ok but promise me that you will take
responsibility of him by taking care of him," said Jacob's mom. And they strutted to the individual
behind the counter. When they got back home with their new puppy they decided to name him Spot
due to a cinnamon–colored spot on his back. The next morning, when Jacob woke up he noticed
that Spot's nose is not the same shade of pink. In fact, it is quite pale. "Mom we need to take spot
to the vet now!" screamed Jacob wistfully. "Ok, I will get Spot while you get in the car," replied
Mom. When they got to their destination, Jacob sprinted out of the car and went to the vet's office
and almost immediately the vet said "Spot is going to need surgery, do you have insurance?" "No,

Persuasive Essay
"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be
graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr.
Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously
groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and
about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose
and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already
rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death
penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly
making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line.
I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a
tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk.
Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such
desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle
was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward
to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked
everyone the age old question: "Do you like

Think about this: what do you do when you see a man proposing to a girl? Do you savor that
moment and think about how it might happen to you. Or do you whip out your phone and take a
picture or video, and think, this is going to be cool to show my friends! Let's try another scenario:
you're walking along and you see a deer! Oh, what a majestic deer! Are you going to take a picture,
potentially scaring it away, or do you smile at it and stare for a while looking at its glorious beauty.
Last one: you're driving and you see a car crash and flip over. What do you do? Is your first instinct

a little test for you, try to go without your phone for one hour of a time where you have nothing.
Think about what happens in that time, is there an urge to check Snapchat? Do you need to see

lives are run by these, don't you think that's stupid? I can't even fathom it, what is so good about
a phone? And why does it overpower face to face conversation? Next time you're on your phone,
think about this and take a break. Ask your sister how her day went, or bake some cookies for
your grandma. Because we can only do so many things now, and before you know it it's going to

Persuasive Speech On Tablets Vs Textbooks
In the United States alone over 2,300 school districts are using tablets in the classroom and growing
better than ever. That's pretty interesting fact I'm a highschool student that this subject pertains to, I
want my education to be the best that it can be and I have an educated opinion that I would like to
share with you. Education is the driving factor of our future so don't you want to make sure that it's
the best that it can be? If so, then we're on the same page. The issue whether tablets or textbooks
is a huge decision for us. As I speak I ask you to decide for yourself which tool you would consider. I
believe that schools should use tablets for the K–12th grade instead of textbooks because it's more
beneficial to the schools and therefore better for our future the main reason why tablets are the key
to our future is that they are safer, more cost friendly, and helps improve students achievements for
education than textbooks.
Now let's talk about the first of these points: Safety, tablets are safer for children in K–12th grade for
many reasons first of all textbooks cause injuries that tablets don't. Textbooks can cause muscle
strains, muscle spasms, and back pain. Also, by carrying on this heavy load it also causes pulling
on the neck muscle which plays along with headaches, shoulder pain, lower back pain, and /or neck
and arm pain. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, "During the 2011–12
school year more than 13,700 kids, aged 5 to 18, were

Persuasive Essay On Climate Change
Climate change is known as one of the greatest threats to the planet. It is not only a threat to the
planet environmentally, but it is a threat socially and economically. As we all could feel, see, and
know, the weather patterns globally and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have been increasing
over an extended period of time. Although it may seem like it's not a dramatic change since it is
data from over a large amount of time, it is considering the fact that the large amount of time is
not that large as it should be. Climate change is nothing new to us. It's happened many years ago
in the past because a variety of reasons but as the years go on, the rate on charts are just getting
higher. As much as I would like to blame this predicament on nature, humans has a fault as well.
We release thousands of greenhouse gases into the air through many procedures, but there are
things that we cannot entirely control. However, whoever's fault it is to blame I believe that if
we work together and think we will more likely be able to find effective solutions for this
problem. After the industrial revolution, humans built planes, faster cars, developed exceptional
technology, and learned how to use natural resources to our benefit. However, we have increased
our consumption of the natural resources and released a lot of greenhouse gases during the
process. Releasing a large quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is awful since
greenhouse gases trap heat that is radiated from the sun, which warms our planet to the point
where we can feel the effects. If the temperatures of the planet rise up more than it already has, in
a few years that ice in the poles would be melted. According to the video, "Climate Change 101
with Bill Nye | National Geographic", it states that climate change increased the temperature of
the ocean by more than .3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969. If this keeps up many oceanic animals
will be harmed like polar bears, walruses, seals, and much more. Also, the oceans will be seriously
affected since the ice will be melting into it causing the sea levels to rise about 70 meters. Billions
of people rely on the ocean for many things such as protein, oxygen it provides, how the winds and
currents

Persuasive Essay On Graffiti
Since the birth of graffiti in the 1960's many people were or are either thrown in jail, have to pay
a high fine in graffiti damages or are either asked to do graffiti in many museums and art galleries
because owners like the art they see and want others to see it too. Graffiti has been around for
some time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they
should not just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing
themselves through this art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to
accept the art and nature or meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good
things other than rob or go to jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have
others hear them or see them in an artistic way.
Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause
violence, but in the artist's mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by
making art to cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don't do it to go to
jail or because they want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For
instance, "A lot of attention is given to the 'broken window' theory, which says that signs of
disorder like petty vandalism, fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes,"
Verel told The Huffington Post. "But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a
form that's both constructive and authentic"(Patrick Verel). They are taking this broken windows
theory too far and only saying it can cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift
the neighborhoods and the people they live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad
enough to want artists to commit a crime. While making this art or graffiti I don't think that these
artist are trying to harm the buildings in any way, but they should ask for permission if they aren't
allowed to be painting on these buildings. This is to let the owner of the building know that they
mean no harm to the environment or their workplace. For example, "Adam Cooper, cultural strategy
officer for the mayor of London, thinks

Writing A Persuasive Essay
It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good
essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a
passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I
have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with
an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of
school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of
passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First
things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content...
You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds
the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job
to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a
bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this
essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there
reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot

this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In
the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered
this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you

reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point

Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie
For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite
movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat, Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly
how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how
beautiful it was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including
multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined running free in a field filled with
flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have
watched this movie countless times and have purposely never examined any faults the movie might

Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is
life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this movie for the kind of life I hoped to live
when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and
exploring the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made
me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that ultimately felt free from my parents'
issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on
myself as I felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt
trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a place like Gunnison National
Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt
like I was free from all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an
individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my elementary peers
had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags.
A lesson this movie really pushes to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic
values. During the time that this movie was produced America started becoming more urban and
building new cities. The start of the movie takes

Persuasive Essay On Fitting In
Society today makes everyone want to fit in. The shoes, the hair, the technology, and the clothes.
With J.O.C., a new popular teen clothing line, fitting in can be easy. Here's how we do it...
Everyone wants to fit in, and with our clothes, you will. We used techniques such as the Snob
Appeal, the Be Like Them Appeal, and the Stereotype appeal. Using the Snob Appeal implies that if
you buy our clothing you will become popular, and gain major social status. In the ad, our slogan
was 'because who doesn't want to gain social status'. Saying this very clearly implied you will gain
social status with our clothes. The next appeal we used was the Be Like Them Appeal, once again
saying that buying our clothes will make you become like all of your friends, and be part of the
popular crowd. The next appeal we used was the stereotype appeal. That all of the people who wear
this clothing are cool, popular people. Our ad was geared to a very small demographic, Girls and
Boys ages 13–17, more specifically Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers. Most High Schoolers
all want to fit in and a good way to do it is with what they wear. This line, though isn't just geared
towards teenagers that want to be popular, but teenagers that are already popular. Our clothing is
also very affordable because teenagers don't have tons of money to spend on expensive...show more

Throughout the ad we have us modeling the clothes at a dock on the water, at a clubhouse, and at a
golf course. All of these are nice, high–end, locations and they add to the use of the snob appeal. A
big use was the music throughout the video. The song was called, Upgrade U. During this song, it
talks about upgrading yourself and other people. It basically said everything we were trying to get
the audience to hear. This song went really well with our ad because the point we were trying to get
across was that with our clothing you can easily upgrade yourself, and become

Persuasive Essay About Hamlet
Hamlet Is A Deceiver
Insanity is a perfectly rational adjustment to the sane world. In the play Hamlet several times only
with family and close family members has he showed any signs of madness. However when he is
alone he is thinking of ways to make other believe that he is insane. Hamlet is trying to deceive
everyone by his words and his actions. Essentially the book Hamlet is about a boy who needs to help
his father to take revenge by assassinating the king so that he may be in peace. Although Hamlet
seems insane throughout most of the book, he is just faking it so that he may assassinate the king
and avenge his forebear.
Hamlet is trying to make his family believe that he is truly insane by his words. Hamlet says
himself that he will be faking to be insane so that he can kill Claudius when he says "as I
perchance hereafter shall think meet to put on an antic disposition"(1.5.58), an antic disposition is
to act insane to seem harmless to Claudius. Also Hamlet says"Get thee to a nunnery. Why wouldst
thou be a breeder of sinners? I am myself indifferent honest, but yet I could accuse me of such
things that it were better my mother had not borne me"(3.1.118). This shows that Hamlet is
annoyed by his mother as she so soonly remarried after her father death and he insulting his mother.
As the ghost said to Hamlet "leave her to heaven and to those thorns that in her bosom lodge to
prick and sting her"(1.5.89), which was basically asking him to not physically hurt his mother but to
make her feel ashamed for her actions that her consciousness overwhelms her and she comes to
realize how offending of an act she has done. Gertrude is shocked when Hamlet starts to talk to the
wall and she says "O gentle son, upon the heat and flame of thy distemper sprinkle cool patience!
whereon do you look?"(3.4.132–141). As the ghost just talked to Hamlet and since Gertrude did not
see the ghost she thought that Hamlet was talking to the wall. Hence Gertrude is convinced that
Hamlet is insane as he is talking to the wall. It also was a move by Hamlet to talk to the wall to
make Gertrude believe that he was insane, as it was all part of his plan to kill Claudius. Hamlet
demonstrates another action of madness when he strikes

Persuasive Essay About Fear
Whether it's a full–blown phobia or something that just scares the crap out of you, we each have
that one thing that makes us weak in the knees. Maybe it's ghosts, clowns, or even spiders
(really?). For me, my biggest fear is of being buried alive. No, of course this is not rational. But in
my defense, most people's deepest, darkest fears are irrational. That's part of why they scare us so
much. My fear falls somewhere between a phobia and something that keeps me up on those dark,
lonely nights. My fear even has a fancy name: Taphophobia.
Before the days of modern medicine, this wasn't just an irrational fear; it was a real occurrence.
The hysteria was especially rampant during the 18th and 19th centuries, when cholera was at its
worst and people were dying everywhere. The number of cases of people being buried alive is
shocking. Can you imagine what it would be like if you were buried alive? Complete darkness,
with no room to move. You had limited air and no food. You would starve to death, but quite
possibly go crazy first.
The fear was only made worse by Edgar Allan Poe and his horrific works of literature. He thrived off
of the hysteria, writing short stories such as his 1894 horror tale, "The Premature Burial." His work
perpetuated the publics panic. Being buried alive was a common theme in Poe's stories, as it's
highlighted in his books "Berenice, "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Fall of the House of Usher,"
and the short tale, "The Black Cat."

Persuasive Essay On The Salem Witch Trials
There was a time when the Salem Witch Trials were going on. Which seems pretty crazy. The
whole reason the Salem Witch Trials were going on was because these girls were dancing in the
forest and they got nervous after they had been caught. So they thought it was in their best interest to
lie about everything. All they did was lie, and everyone around them instantly believed them. All of
the people accused of witchcraft were only trying to tell the truth, which was they were all innocent.
Even though they all told the truth they all paid for their actions. John Proctor paid for not only his
actions, but his wife Elizabeth Proctor's actions as well. Elizabeth and John Proctor had two kids,
both were boys. They were a part in the Salem Witch Trials. But they were not the first to be
accused. John knew this was all fake from the start. They had a servant who was included in the
group of girls. Her name was Mary Warren. She helped out around the house. After John found out
she kept going back to Salem he was not very happy. He got really mad and almost beat her. She
knew it was all pretend, but she wanted to play along with her friends, which was not the smartest
idea. Mary just did not want to upset Abigail.
Abigail Williams is the leader of the girls. She was the first one who got blamed for this. She is the
first one who lied and blamed all of the witchcraft on Tituba. Abigail wanted to hide the truth because
she feared of getting caught, and what would happen. She lied

Persuasive Essay On Henrietta Lacks
The "Good" Doctors There were 884 million doctor's visits in the US alone in 2014, another 125
million counting hospital visits. It is clear that society trusts the doctors and nurses that it employs
to uphold high standards to carry on with the task of saving lives. Our society doesn't blink an eye
and puts all its faith into doctors without question. Society assumes that all doctors are good and
ignores the potential of an immoral doctor. A study conducted by the NCBI showed that 90% of all
medical students have witnessed an unethical medical practice performed by the doctors that society
had trusted. This means that if you had any doctor's visits in the last few years, most likely you were
a victim of an unethical practice. This is the situation that Henrietta Lacks faced at John Hopkins
Hospital in the 1950s. Rebecca Skloot details the accounts of mistreatment and abuse that followed
Henrietta Lacks in her novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta Lacks was an African
American mother seeking cancer treatment at John Hopkins Hospitals, who ended up to be one of
the biggest medical discoveries at the time. Doctors at the hospital discovered the power of her
cells and in doing so abused and misuse Henrietta Lacks in the process, which ultimately led to her
death. Although Henrietta Lack's cells proved to beneficial to millions of people, the misconduct
performed by the doctors is uncalled for and violates the oath that every doctor had sworn to. There

Figuring out the right career choice is often times difficult, confusing, and scary. Afterall, having the

me. After careful consideration as well as extensive research in areas such as education and training,
debt vs pay off, and time for family, I have determined that dentistry is the right path for me.
Through my research, I have gathered essential information regarding the education and training
required to achieve a degree as a general dentist as well as the different specialties in the field.
Majoring in biology during my undergrad will expose me to a variety of lab activities which will
then aid me in performing well on the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) during my junior year of
college ("Dentist Schools & Careers"). The DAT is one of the many contributing factors, such as
GPA and letter of recommendations, which determine acceptance into dental school ( "Dentists.").
Following my bachelor's

Persuasive Essay On Free Education
In the world, we live in has many problems that need to be resolved but one that hits close to many
students is free education. College isn't cheap and for those who have families who fall in the
"middle class" or below it may be impossible to attend college. Families wonder how they're going
to be able to afford college for their kids. Many families save for years to be able to provide their
kids with the best education but what about those who aren't able to save? Although there are
federal programs that will assist with paying for college but in a lot of cases that just isn't
enough. I feel offering free education will help with the raise in college admissions which then
affects our economy. Many students become discourage when debating whether to continue their
education. They become concern on how their families will be able to afford such a big expense.
Then those who take the risk and start to attend college are so concern how they will make their
next tuition payment, that there aren't focus on their school work. We all have to think about the
big picture. In order to have a good paying job you need to have the education behind it. Without a
college education, the job available to you are very slim. In the economy, we live in everything
is so expensive a minimal wage job can't afford to take care of a family. College education will help
student build a better work ethic. They will know the real world isn't easy and it takes hard work to
be successful. According to

Persuasive Essay Prompts

  • 1. Persuasive Essay About Volunteering Essay Prompt #3 At first, I wasn't the person for me to volunteer. When I was in middle school, my parents always made me volunteer at places like schools and hospitals. I always went with the flow with my parents. I didn't want to argue with them. As the hours of volunteering were stacking up, I began to notice something about the world around me. The environment that I volunteered in is an environment that if my family would live in it, my eyes would tear up. The environment I work in is a place where people don't earn enough money, children live with divorced parents, and the problem of affording food was a topic I overhear. Working in these places, I realize that the world we live is imperfect. I live in a place where my parents feed me, I can do laundry, and when I'm done with homework, I can watch TV. These people who fall in poverty, have a history of illness, or are just trying to make their way in the world ought to live better lives regardless of their backgrounds. I want people to have better lives despite the fact that the world we live in can never fully satisfy us. I believe that through volunteering, my works and actions can impact the lives of these people. Right now, I am just a student and I believe the first steps of making the world a better place is in volunteering and serving people who are in need. Essay Prompt #4 One characteristic that separates me from my peer is my age. I repeated Pre–K, and whenever I tell anyone about my age, they always ask Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Persuasive Writing Prompt Persuasive Writing Prompt November 2017 "People never learn anything by being told, they have to find out for themselves." This quote was from Paulo Coelho, a lyricist, and novelist. This quote explains why I want to experience Sano Japan. I want to know what Sano Japan is like, I want to experience its culture, atmosphere and more. I want to go because things like books and YouTube videos, just don't show what it is really like there. The only way you can actually experience it is by being there in person like the quote says. I have grown up in Lancaster for all my life, I grew up in a family that wasn't as great as others. My parents both were people who really wanted to go to college, but the cost was just too great for them. This however...show more content... I could "go anywhere" without going anywhere, if you know what I mean. I love to experience new things, it is one of my favorite things to do. This trip would mean a lot to me because it would be the best way for me to experience life and learn. I can talk about how amazing my grades are and how they are always straight As. However, that wouldn't be that helpful. Well, they do help but I am more than that. I am a dedicated person. Once I set my eyes on something, I won't stop until I've done it and done it well. I have my parents to thank for that. This dedication helped me excel in school. Learning came easily to me. I am also a courteous and kind person. You do not have to worry about me messing around and disrespecting the people of Sano Japan. This doesn't mean I can't have fun. I can get along with people, no matter who they are. I was a shy kid, who didn't like to talk a lot, however, my friends have brought out who I really was. I could talk more about my qualities that would make me the best choice for student ambassador, however like what your favorite and hated singer Justin Bieber said, "I made mistakes growing up. I'm not perfect; I'm not a robot." I am not perfect, like the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Persuasive Short Stories As we are nearing our destination our bus driver yells out "I am going to stop at this gas station and fill up." When our bus driver came back onto the bus he exclaimed "The gas station is out of gasoline so we will stay here overnight." Then, everyone in the bus started grunting and moaning. "But guys we can make this fun if we tell stories to pass the time, Here, I will start." I said. And we began telling each other our stories. "Can we please adopt this one, Mom? Pretty please, he is so cute! With his bright green eyes and his pink little nose," said Jacob, a thirteen year old boy with red hair. "After this we will be pretty much bankrupt," said Jacob's mom, with her deep blue eyes staring into Jacob's "Please just this one thats all," said Jacob "Ok but promise me that you will take responsibility of him by taking care of him," said Jacob's mom. And they strutted to the individual behind the counter. When they got back home with their new puppy they decided to name him Spot due to a cinnamon–colored spot on his back. The next morning, when Jacob woke up he noticed that Spot's nose is not the same shade of pink. In fact, it is quite pale. "Mom we need to take spot to the vet now!" screamed Jacob wistfully. "Ok, I will get Spot while you get in the car," replied Mom. When they got to their destination, Jacob sprinted out of the car and went to the vet's office and almost immediately the vet said "Spot is going to need surgery, do you have insurance?" • 5. Persuasive Essay "Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Writing Prompts Think about this: what do you do when you see a man proposing to a girl? Do you savor that moment and think about how it might happen to you. Or do you whip out your phone and take a picture or video, and think, this is going to be cool to show my friends! Let's try another scenario: you're walking along and you see a deer! Oh, what a majestic deer! Are you going to take a picture, potentially scaring it away, or do you smile at it and stare for a while looking at its glorious beauty. Last one: you're driving and you see a car crash and flip over. What do you do? Take your puppy out for a walk and don't check Twitter while you're on the bus home from school. See how your best friend is doing, but it can't have emojis in it. I have a little test for you, try to go without your phone for one hour of a time where you have nothing. Think about what happens in that time, is there an urge to check Snapchat? Do you need to see and like your friends Instagram post? Why is it so hard for us to leave a phone? We are missing out on all of this important information by staring at a piece of metal for six hours a day! Our lives are run by these, don't you think that's stupid? I can't even fathom it, what is so good about a phone? And why does it overpower face to face conversation? Next time you're on your phone, think about this and take a break. Ask your sister how her day went, or bake some cookies for your grandma. Because we can only do so many things now, and before you know it it's going to be over and you spent it all on your phone, looking at somebody else's experience. Filling that void in your life with other people's joy, then moving on to the next story on Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Speech On Tablets Vs Textbooks In the United States alone over 2,300 school districts are using tablets in the classroom and growing better than ever. That's pretty interesting fact I'm a highschool student that this subject pertains to, I want my education to be the best that it can be and I have an educated opinion that I would like to share with you. Education is the driving factor of our future so don't you want to make sure that it's the best that it can be? If so, then we're on the same page. The issue whether tablets or textbooks is a huge decision for us. As I speak I ask you to decide for yourself which tool you would consider. I believe that schools should use tablets for the K–12th grade instead of textbooks because it's more beneficial to the schools and therefore better for our future the main reason why tablets are the key to our future is that they are safer, more cost friendly, and helps improve students achievements for education than textbooks. Now let's talk about the first of these points: Safety, tablets are safer for children in K–12th grade for many reasons first of all textbooks cause injuries that tablets don't. Textbooks can cause muscle strains, muscle spasms, and back pain. Also, by carrying on this heavy load it also causes pulling on the neck muscle which plays along with headaches, shoulder pain, lower back pain, and /or neck and arm pain. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, "During the 2011–12 school year more than 13,700 kids, aged 5 to 18, were Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Persuasive Essay On Climate Change Climate change is known as one of the greatest threats to the planet. It is not only a threat to the planet environmentally, but it is a threat socially and economically. As we all could feel, see, and know, the weather patterns globally and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere have been increasing over an extended period of time. Although it may seem like it's not a dramatic change since it is data from over a large amount of time, it is considering the fact that the large amount of time is not that large as it should be. Climate change is nothing new to us. It's happened many years ago in the past because a variety of reasons but as the years go on, the rate on charts are just getting higher. As much as I would like to blame this predicament on nature, humans has a fault as well. We release thousands of greenhouse gases into the air through many procedures, but there are things that we cannot entirely control. However, whoever's fault it is to blame I believe that if we work together and think we will more likely be able to find effective solutions for this problem. After the industrial revolution, humans built planes, faster cars, developed exceptional technology, and learned how to use natural resources to our benefit. However, we have increased our consumption of the natural resources and released a lot of greenhouse gases during the process. Releasing a large quantity of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is awful since greenhouse gases trap heat that is radiated from the sun, which warms our planet to the point where we can feel the effects. If the temperatures of the planet rise up more than it already has, in a few years that ice in the poles would be melted. According to the video, "Climate Change 101 with Bill Nye | National Geographic", it states that climate change increased the temperature of the ocean by more than .3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969. If this keeps up many oceanic animals will be harmed like polar bears, walruses, seals, and much more. Also, the oceans will be seriously affected since the ice will be melting into it causing the sea levels to rise about 70 meters. Billions of people rely on the ocean for many things such as protein, oxygen it provides, how the winds and currents Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Graffiti Since the birth of graffiti in the 1960's many people were or are either thrown in jail, have to pay a high fine in graffiti damages or are either asked to do graffiti in many museums and art galleries because owners like the art they see and want others to see it too. Graffiti has been around for some time now, most people and the police just see it as a form of destruction and not art they should not just see it as something that is good or evil because these artists are expressing themselves through this art and trying to spread a message. The United States and the U.K need to accept the art and nature or meaning behind this graffiti because it is a way for people to do good things other than rob or go to jail it is also a way for people to get their message out and have others hear them or see them in an artistic way. Generally most people look and take graffiti as a form of destruction and wanting to cause violence, but in the artist's mind they want to be creative and help the people around them by making art to cheer someone up or create a sense of creativity in others. They don't do it to go to jail or because they want to pay a fine they do it because they are open minded and creative. For instance, "A lot of attention is given to the 'broken window' theory, which says that signs of disorder like petty vandalism, fare jumping ... and yes, graffiti, open the window to larger crimes," Verel told The Huffington Post. "But little is paid to the ways graffiti is harnessed for good in a form that's both constructive and authentic"(Patrick Verel). They are taking this broken windows theory too far and only saying it can cause bigger crimes. Some graffiti artists are trying to uplift the neighborhoods and the people they live around with creative art. Also not all graffiti is bad enough to want artists to commit a crime. While making this art or graffiti I don't think that these artist are trying to harm the buildings in any way, but they should ask for permission if they aren't allowed to be painting on these buildings. This is to let the owner of the building know that they mean no harm to the environment or their workplace. For example, "Adam Cooper, cultural strategy officer for the mayor of London, thinks Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Writing A Persuasive Essay It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content... You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay About My Favorite Movie For as long as I can remember the Adventures of the Wilderness Family has been my favorite movie. I was fascinated by how close to nature Pat, Skip, Jenny, and Toby were and particularly how close to wildlife they were. Every time I watched that movie I was just in awe of how beautiful it was and how they could sustain themselves and persevere through anything including multiple animal attacks. When I was a kid I always imagined running free in a field filled with flowers and being so close to nature and feeling free to explore my own little world. I have watched this movie countless times and have purposely never examined any faults the movie might have because I enjoyed it exactly the way it was. I never looked at it and actually saw...show more content... Whenever a character got attacked they seemed to take it really lightly, when realistically that is life–threatening. Childhood me really appreciated this movie for the kind of life I hoped to live when I got older. As a kid I would spend a lot of time by the pond outside my dad's house and exploring the woods and backyard with my brothers and my Dad and watching this movie made me look toward the possibility of one day living a life that ultimately felt free from my parents' issues and social conflicts and allowed me to find the heart and soul of who I am and depend on myself as I felt in a way I always had. As a kid I felt like the odd duck out sometimes and felt trapped between my parents as I still do today, so moving to a place like Gunnison National Forest seemed like the ultimate sense of freedom to me. I wasn't looking for a place where I felt like I was free from all of the issues I had to deal with growing up and I could thrive as an individual without having to worry about having the coolest new things that my elementary peers had before it was uncool or eventually about having the latest Apple products or designer handbags. A lesson this movie really pushes to heart on its viewers is the importance of reducing materialistic values. During the time that this movie was produced America started becoming more urban and building new cities. The start of the movie takes Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Fitting In Society today makes everyone want to fit in. The shoes, the hair, the technology, and the clothes. With J.O.C., a new popular teen clothing line, fitting in can be easy. Here's how we do it... Everyone wants to fit in, and with our clothes, you will. We used techniques such as the Snob Appeal, the Be Like Them Appeal, and the Stereotype appeal. Using the Snob Appeal implies that if you buy our clothing you will become popular, and gain major social status. In the ad, our slogan was 'because who doesn't want to gain social status'. Saying this very clearly implied you will gain social status with our clothes. The next appeal we used was the Be Like Them Appeal, once again saying that buying our clothes will make you become like all of your friends, and be part of the popular crowd. The next appeal we used was the stereotype appeal. That all of the people who wear this clothing are cool, popular people. Our ad was geared to a very small demographic, Girls and Boys ages 13–17, more specifically Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers. Most High Schoolers all want to fit in and a good way to do it is with what they wear. This line, though isn't just geared towards teenagers that want to be popular, but teenagers that are already popular. Our clothing is also very affordable because teenagers don't have tons of money to spend on expensive...show more content... • 13. Persuasive Essay About Hamlet Hamlet Is A Deceiver Insanity is a perfectly rational adjustment to the sane world. In the play Hamlet several times only with family and close family members has he showed any signs of madness. However when he is alone he is thinking of ways to make other believe that he is insane. Hamlet is trying to deceive everyone by his words and his actions. Essentially the book Hamlet is about a boy who needs to help his father to take revenge by assassinating the king so that he may be in peace. Although Hamlet seems insane throughout most of the book, he is just faking it so that he may assassinate the king and avenge his forebear. Hamlet is trying to make his family believe that he is truly insane by his words. Hamlet says himself that he will be faking to be insane so that he can kill Claudius when he says "as I perchance hereafter shall think meet to put on an antic disposition"(1.5.58), an antic disposition is to act insane to seem harmless to Claudius. Also Hamlet says"Get thee to a nunnery. Why wouldst thou be a breeder of sinners? I am myself indifferent honest, but yet I could accuse me of such things that it were better my mother had not borne me"(3.1.118). This shows that Hamlet is annoyed by his mother as she so soonly remarried after her father death and he insulting his mother. As the ghost said to Hamlet "leave her to heaven and to those thorns that in her bosom lodge to prick and sting her"(1.5.89), which was basically asking him to not physically hurt his mother but to make her feel ashamed for her actions that her consciousness overwhelms her and she comes to realize how offending of an act she has done. Gertrude is shocked when Hamlet starts to talk to the wall and she says "O gentle son, upon the heat and flame of thy distemper sprinkle cool patience! whereon do you look?"(3.4.132–141). As the ghost just talked to Hamlet and since Gertrude did not see the ghost she thought that Hamlet was talking to the wall. Hence Gertrude is convinced that Hamlet is insane as he is talking to the wall. It also was a move by Hamlet to talk to the wall to make Gertrude believe that he was insane, as it was all part of his plan to kill Claudius. Hamlet demonstrates another action of madness when he strikes Get more content on HelpWriting.net

This is what it is like to be stereotyped. We stereotype to make sense of the world' it's in our nature as humans even though it's wrong to judge someone before meeting them. When I pursue to walk into our first meeting as a team it is an awkward silence in the room. I thought to myself Christian why did you do this you, you don't belong here and they don't want you here. The shaky cough of our brain game coach to announce the start of the meeting made me want to put my hood on and hide. He gives the instruction to when are first match is I feel the cold stares of my soon to be teammates eyes focused on me the whole time. As my coach was coming to a close on the details of are first match, I got up and began to proceed to the door my coach stops me and says "you're Christian right? • 16. Persuasive Essay About Fear Whether it's a full–blown phobia or something that just scares the crap out of you, we each have that one thing that makes us weak in the knees. Maybe it's ghosts, clowns, or even spiders (really?). For me, my biggest fear is of being buried alive. No, of course this is not rational. But in my defense, most people's deepest, darkest fears are irrational. That's part of why they scare us so much. My fear falls somewhere between a phobia and something that keeps me up on those dark, lonely nights. My fear even has a fancy name: Taphophobia. Before the days of modern medicine, this wasn't just an irrational fear; it was a real occurrence. The hysteria was especially rampant during the 18th and 19th centuries, when cholera was at its worst and people were dying everywhere. The number of cases of people being buried alive is shocking. Can you imagine what it would be like if you were buried alive? Complete darkness, with no room to move. You had limited air and no food. You would starve to death, but quite possibly go crazy first. The fear was only made worse by Edgar Allan Poe and his horrific works of literature. He thrived off of the hysteria, writing short stories such as his 1894 horror tale, "The Premature Burial." His work perpetuated the publics panic. Being buried alive was a common theme in Poe's stories, as it's highlighted in his books "Berenice, "The Cask of Amontillado," "The Fall of the House of Usher," and the short tale, "The Black Cat." • 17. Persuasive Essay On The Salem Witch Trials There was a time when the Salem Witch Trials were going on. Which seems pretty crazy. The whole reason the Salem Witch Trials were going on was because these girls were dancing in the forest and they got nervous after they had been caught. So they thought it was in their best interest to lie about everything. All they did was lie, and everyone around them instantly believed them. All of the people accused of witchcraft were only trying to tell the truth, which was they were all innocent. Even though they all told the truth they all paid for their actions. John Proctor paid for not only his actions, but his wife Elizabeth Proctor's actions as well. Elizabeth and John Proctor had two kids, both were boys. They were a part in the Salem Witch Trials. But they were not the first to be accused. John knew this was all fake from the start. They had a servant who was included in the group of girls. Her name was Mary Warren. She helped out around the house. After John found out she kept going back to Salem he was not very happy. He got really mad and almost beat her. She knew it was all pretend, but she wanted to play along with her friends, which was not the smartest idea. Mary just did not want to upset Abigail. Abigail Williams is the leader of the girls. She was the first one who got blamed for this. She is the first one who lied and blamed all of the witchcraft on Tituba. Abigail wanted to hide the truth because she feared of getting caught, and what would happen. She lied Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Persuasive Essay On Henrietta Lacks The "Good" Doctors There were 884 million doctor's visits in the US alone in 2014, another 125 million counting hospital visits. It is clear that society trusts the doctors and nurses that it employs to uphold high standards to carry on with the task of saving lives. Our society doesn't blink an eye and puts all its faith into doctors without question. Society assumes that all doctors are good and ignores the potential of an immoral doctor. A study conducted by the NCBI showed that 90% of all medical students have witnessed an unethical medical practice performed by the doctors that society had trusted. This means that if you had any doctor's visits in the last few years, most likely you were a victim of an unethical practice. This is the situation that Henrietta Lacks faced at John Hopkins Hospital in the 1950s. Rebecca Skloot details the accounts of mistreatment and abuse that followed Henrietta Lacks in her novel The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Henrietta Lacks was an African American mother seeking cancer treatment at John Hopkins Hospitals, who ended up to be one of the biggest medical discoveries at the time. Doctors at the hospital discovered the power of her cells and in doing so abused and misuse Henrietta Lacks in the process, which ultimately led to her death. Although Henrietta Lack's cells proved to beneficial to millions of people, the misconduct performed by the doctors is uncalled for and violates the oath that every doctor had sworn to. • 19. Persuasive Essay On Career Choice Figuring out the right career choice is often times difficult, confusing, and scary. Afterall, having the weight of a 200,000 thousand dollar debt on your shoulders while working in a career field you absolutely hate would make anyone petrified during the decision process. With this kind of pressure, determining the best–suited career choice is beyond stressful. Like any concerned high school student, I have been contemplating my major which is determinate on the career path I chose. Dentistry has always been an interest point of mine, however, I have always contemplated whether doing four extra years of schooling as well as going into an insane amount of debt was worth it for me. After careful consideration as well as extensive research in areas such as education and training, debt vs pay off, and time for family, I have determined that dentistry is the right path for me. Through my research, I have gathered essential information regarding the education and training required to achieve a degree as a general dentist as well as the different specialties in the field. Majoring in biology during my undergrad will expose me to a variety of lab activities which will then aid me in performing well on the Dental Admissions Test (DAT) during my junior year of college ("Dentist Schools & Careers"). The DAT is one of the many contributing factors, such as GPA and letter of recommendations, which determine acceptance into dental school ( "Dentists."). • 20. Persuasive Essay On Free Education In the world, we live in has many problems that need to be resolved but one that hits close to many students is free education. College isn't cheap and for those who have families who fall in the "middle class" or below it may be impossible to attend college. Families wonder how they're going to be able to afford college for their kids. Many families save for years to be able to provide their kids with the best education but what about those who aren't able to save? Although there are federal programs that will assist with paying for college but in a lot of cases that just isn't enough. I feel offering free education will help with the raise in college admissions which then affects our economy. Many students become discourage when debating whether to continue their education. They become concern on how their families will be able to afford such a big expense. Then those who take the risk and start to attend college are so concern how they will make their next tuition payment, that there aren't focus on their school work. We all have to think about the big picture. In order to have a good paying job you need to have the education behind it. Without a college education, the job available to you are very slim. In the economy, we live in everything is so expensive a minimal wage job can't afford to take care of a family. College education will help student build a better work ethic. They will know the real world isn't easy and it takes hard work to be successful. According to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
