3. Mise- en- Scene
• This is shot shows the contrast between the
psychiatrist and the woman.
• We see the man as a middle class, and the woman as a
working class.
• The psychiatrist is wearing an expensive watch and is
wearing a suit, which contrasts with the woman, who
has a jumper and jeans on, which is far more casual.
She is not even wearing a pair of shoes.
• The woman is also very pale, this shows she is in a lot
of stress, and a little run down, whereas the man looks
very clean and fresh, showing he has a better life, as a
middle class man.
4. Sound
• The sound here is only diegetic of the
psychiatrist talking to the woman.
• He says ‘ are you ready to take a seat yet?’.
• This is the first piece of dialogue, which shows
he has the status, as throughout this opening
she only answers when he has spoke to her.
5. Cinematography/Editing
• Here there is a high angle shot.
• Having a high angle shot shows the different
in class and status. The woman is sat down
and the man is looking down on her.
• This shows how he has a lot more status over
her, aswell as her being in his territory.
• The editing here is slow, showing that he is a
caring person, and in a professional place.
