Jess McMullin gave a presentation on designing influence at DrupalCamp Alberta 2009. She discussed how great products are not always successful due to challenges from the team, market, and clients. However, user experience design can help address human risk aversion and organizational challenges. To influence outcomes, McMullin recommended focusing on evidence, fluency, empathy, and authenticity. The key elements of influence are understanding the people involved, mapping out the influence process, and identifying target decisions.
