Story Title (working): How Does a Fish Regulate Buoyancy?
Story Style: Instructional
Target Audience: 8th
grade physical science
Approximate Length of Video: 1 to 2 minutes
Story Goals & Objectives - What does the video aim to teach, portray or illustrate?
What effect do you want to have on the audience?
Students will understand buoyancy: positive, negative and positive.
Students will transfer this information to a real life situation (fish moving up and down in
the water column).
Story Description – Provide a brief description of your video
Students will create a DS describing how a fish regulates its buoyancy using its swim
bladder. Students will narrate what the fish is doing with its swim bladder when it has
positive buoyancy, negative buoyancy and neutral buoyancy. To add some creativity,
students should explain why the fish is deciding to change its buoyancy.
Settings & Resources – Indicate what resources might be needed.
Students will draw picture by hand (scan into computer) or using a draw program.
