  10. -Commited to MAP and cut our “chord” from ITBIS testing at same time.\n-Spring 09 Pilot test-6 classes in each grade 3-5\n-Committed to a pilot period that would extend through our first full year of testing (2011-12)\n-Commited that results would be shared with parents\n-Commited to PD plan extending through June 2013 for teachers and admin so that they can be MAP test literate to answer parent questions/concerns\n
  11. -Right about time we started testing “Tiger Mom” drops.\n-Reaffirms our organizational fears of our parent communication\n-SAS is the embodiement of a “Tiger Mom” parent community\n-Realized a change in culture was going to be necessary arounf MAP testing and the data\n\n
  12. -During our adoption of MAP we also were going through an entire overhaul of the school strategic plan, our core values and our mission. \n-Deconstruction and reconstruction allowed us to examine how data and student instruction fit into the big picture of who and where we wanted to position ourselves as a leading educational organization in Shanghai and beyond.\n

NWEA Workshops\n-What does this have to do with parent communication?\n-Teachers are often front line with parents\n-Important to provide as much training as possible to teachers so that they can artiulate reasons and benefits of testing\n\n\n-Part of any effective communication plan has to be a sound professional development plan for staff so that they can articulate to Parents what MAP testing is, how adaptive testing is a different form of standardized measures, and what student data means for their child\n
