We are going to talk about United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland. UK is a country situated in the north-west of
continental Europe. This sovereign state is formed by the island
of Great Britain, the north-eastern part of the island of Ireland and
many smaller islands. The capital of UK is London, situated in
England. The big island (the Great Britain’s one) is border by
the Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the English Channel and the Irish

London, Northern Ireland, which capital is Belfast, Scotland, which
capital is Edinburgh, and Wales, which capital is Cardiff. The United
Kingdom is a parliamentary monarquie, in which the executive
power is distributed between the queen Isabel II and the Prime
Minister David Cameron, and the parliament has the legislative
power. The queen lives in Buckingham palace with her husband the
duke of Edinburgh. The parliament meets in the Palace of
Westminster and it has two houses: an elected House of
Commons and an appointed House of Lords. The Prime Minister
lives in 10 Downing Street, London, and he is the head of
government and the president of the parliament of the United
Kingdom. The laws are created and approved in the parliament but
also they must be passed for the queen to be legal.
