3. Acknowledgement
Textile and Garments sector is the backbone of our
nation. Most people of our country depends on this
area both directly and indirectly. So that two new
technologies is grown in this regard: one is “Textile
Engineering” & other one is “Garments Design &
Pattern Making Technology” (GDPM).
The main objective of this this presentation is to discuss
different fields of Textile and Garments. We also
highlight the present situation of this two
technologies in SIMT.

4. Short description of Textile &
Garments Department in SIMT
Textile department started her journey in 2010. On the
other hand GDPM i.e. Garments Design and Pattern
Making Technology in 2011. So the age of both
technologies is not too high. Some information of this
two technologies are given below:

6. Introduction
A textile was originally a woven fabric,
but the term textile is now also applied
to fibers, yarns, fabrics, garments and
most products for which these are a
principal raw material.
After observing these main divisions of
Textile, we can understand our
position clearly.

8. Yarn Manufacturing
A yarn is defined as a product of substantial length and
relatively small cross-section consisting of fibers with
or without twist.

A spinning division has two sections:
 Production
Quality

10. Production section:
This section contains lot of machines and equipments which is discussed
above. But the machineries & processes are not available in our
institute. Because SIMT has no spinning division yet. So students gain
some practical knowledge by visiting different mills & factories in every
semester. It is a great news for all that the grand opening of this
division is under consideration.
Quality section:
This section ensures quality for different type of products. SIMT has a
Quality Control lab in TC. The lab is well equipped. So that students
can gain various knowledge about yarn quality. They also acquire
practical information from different brand of equipments. Our faculty
members trying very hard to convert this quality control lab as
international standard.
