2.  Family is the most powerful primary social
system or primary social group , to which a
person ever belongs. for example ,
birth,childhood,puberty,marriage and death etc...
 Family is a source of emotional attachment where
an individual experiences all type of emotions
whether it is positive or negative within the
family.
 Most family therapists identify the individual’s
psychiatric problems which are inseparably
related to the family in which he lives.

3.  Family therapy is that branch of psychiatry which
sees an individual’s psychiatric symptoms as
inseparably related to the family in which he
lives.thus the focus of treatment is not the
individual,but the family.

4.  Change the relationship through changing
the interaction among the people who make
up the family or marital unit.
 Improve group interaction and help each
member to function efficiently.
 Reduce the dysfunctional behaviour and
interaction of individual family member.
 Mobilize family resources in problem
solvation .
 Encourage adaptive family problem solving or
coping behaviour.

26.  Each family member will have single family
therapist; they will work out on specific issue
that have been defined by individual
members; occasionally the family members
will meet along with their therapist to
observe how each member will be relating to
one another in solving the issues.

members to clearly define the problems
which were pointed out by the family
members and suggests the ways or solutions
to attack the problem and help the family

28.  Whenever, there are relational problems
among the couple or marital unit, family
therapy will be considered , couples together
visit the family therapist; interaction,
communication styles, each partner’s goals
hopes and expectations and suggest certain
methods or ways to solve the problems or to
find a commen ground to resolve the
conflicts.partners have to recognize and
respect each others similarities and
difference.

29.  This therapy encourges the family members
to formulate new relationships outside the
group, it provides support for all the families.
 It improves the interaction pattern, social
skills, individuals responsibilities among the
group, methods of confronting and dealing
with common problems, issues ability to
function well in the home and within the
community.

30.  In this therapy 4-5 families meet weekly to
discuss about their problems and dealing the
issues which are common to them.

31.  It includes 40-60 members like family
members, friends, neighbours, well-wishers,
professional groups, who invested in the
outcome of the current crisis.thus, therapy
may be conducted within the family or in
community itself.
A person or group of individuals invested
efforts and resources, now they are
experiencing certain crisis. The group know
each other and interact on a regular basis.
