 The most commonly heard of, the giant
panda, was given the scientific name
Ailuropoda melanoleuca. The red panda has
    the scientific name Ailurus fulgens.
Pandas are only found in the undisturbed
mountain forests of some parts of central
China. Their habitat is the bamboo forests of
southwest China 4,000 to 12,000 ft above
sea level.
 Their food source consists almost exclusively
of bamboo. To gain the nourishment the
panda needs to survive, it will eat anywhere
up to 20 or 30 pounds of bamboo shoots in
one day. Bamboo contains very little
nutritional value, so pandas must eat alot.
 A giant panda is black and white it has black
ears, paws, nose and eye's the rest of the
    panda is white
Giant pandas reach breeding maturity
between four and eight years of age. They
may be reproductive until about age 20.
Calls and scents draw males and females to
 each other.
 A wild panda spends much of its day resting,
feeding, and seeking food. Unlike other bears
from temperate climates, giant pandas do not
    hibernate.
 A panda eats 15 hours a day.
 They eat 25-40lbs of bamboo per day.
 The panda’s lifespan is 25-30 years.
 Pandas are very interesting creatures. They
eat and sleep all of the time. They only live in
certain areas like China and the zoo.
