2. The film making process
 When making a film, lots of
components must come together
before the movie can even be filmed.
 A lot of time and effort goes into a film
before it is released in the cinema.

3. Preproduction
The first things that should be completed in the films
production are:
 Idea/concept - what happens in the film.
 Script - the story, setting, dialogue.
 Storyboards – a sequence of rough sketches to
communicate the vision of the film to the people
who will help to make it.
These must all be written so they can be presented to
a film making company. Another important aspect is
your producer as the handle the idea, cast, funding
and the director.

4. Funding
 Once the film is ready to be presented to a
production company you must find a company or
person to fund your film so that you can hire all the
staff, cast, crew and camera men.
 Funding can come from independent film making
companies such as momentum. It can also come
from big Hollywood companies such as Warner
Brothers or Universal. It is much harder to get
funding from such big companies than it is to get it
from independent companies.

5. Budget
 Once you have people to help fund
your film you have to sort out a
budget.
 The budget includes everything you
will need to spend money on to make
the film. This includes the staff and
crew hire, the cameras, marketing and
the set building.

6. Shooting script/
Scheduling/Call sheets
 A shooting script is written to ensure the cast and
crew know when and where their line will be
dilivered and what kind of camera angles need to
be set up.
 The call sheet allows the actors to know when they
need to be on set and in hair and make up and
what scenes they are in.
 Scheduling goes hand in hand with the shooting
script as it tells you exactly when where and what
scenes you are filming.

7. Equipment
 The equipment includes all of the
cameras, lights, cables, camera
stands and microphones.
 All of the equipment is included in the
budget and is either owned or hired by
the production company.

8. Filming/Editing
 The filming can take up a lot of time as
the director has to be certain that the
cast have delivered their lines and
given good performances.
 One the scenes have all been filmed
they are edited, cut, touched up and
put together. The diagetic and non-
diagetic sound is put in to give the
scenes the right effect.

9. Marketing campaign
 The marketing campaign should make
the film stand out. This means using
unique fonts and crating a unique
selling point.
 Teaser trailers and first looks at the
film have to be carefully selected so
that the film is represented well and so
that people decide to go and see it.

10. Postproduction
 To ensure the success of your film you
have to advertise it to the target
audience and create a buzz before the
films release to make sure the people
the film is made for go to see it.
 Advertising can include premieres, TV
adverts, radio adverts, billboards,
newspapers, trailers and interviews.

11. Release date
 The film needs a release date upon which the film
will be available to the public to watch.
 Before the release of the film you have to do some
research for distribution. This can be done by
asking people that fall into the target audience of
the film to watch the film and give feed back. This
will give you an idea of how well the film is going to
do.
 Reviews are important to as they provide fedd back
for you and they determined weather people will
see the film. Early screenings are a good idea
sometimes as they create a word of mouth buzz
that makes others want to see it.

12.  At the end of the process there is still
money to be made by selling the film
on DVD and Blu-ray.
 Merchandise such as clothes and toys
can be made with the films themes to
make more money.
