US, and players are referred as athlets.

Is one of the few games that have been
declared as sport.(Starcraft 2 is sport aswell)

Is free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena
game developed by Riot Games, released in
2009.
Leage of legends originates from Warcraft 3
Frozen Throne mod Defence of the Anctients.

5. Tournaments


First tournament took place in Los Angeles
(2010) with a prizepool of $7000. The Season
1 World Championships in June 2011, held at
Dreamhack, Sweden and featured
US$100,000 in prizes.
Season 3 took place in North America with the
Grand final being held in the Staples Center
on the 4th of October 2013. Winning team was
awarded with Summoner‘s Cup and
$1.000.000

game!
League of Legends has officially become the
most played PC game in North America and
Europe.

9. SUMMONERS RIFT 5v5
Map is halved into two parts. One for each team.
There are 2 teams fighting against each other.
There are 9 turrets on each part, 2 guarding
turrets that are protecting Nexus, spawn fountain,
3 inhibitors and 5 monster camps. Baron Nashor
(game boss) and Dragon (mini-boss) is avialable
for both teams, and fights are often occuring near
them, becuase players have to share them.

11. Gameplay

In the game of League, your goal is to destory
enemi Nexus. But before that, you have to
level your champion (maximum level is 18),
spend gold to get upgrades (in-ingame
currency) and spend in-ingame skill points to
level up the abilities of your hero.

14. Lanes
There are 3 different types of lanes and 1 sublane. First is bot lane. There are usually 2
players on bot lane. Second is mid lane. Is
often occupied by 1 player, ususally some kind
of mage or assasin.
Sub-lane is jungle, and there should be at
least 1 player going around and cleaning
jungle. Third lane is top lane and is usually
occupied by 1 player (if jungler is present)

16. Gameplay
There are many champions in the game and
each one has very unique abilities. Each
champion has minimum of 4 spells to use, of
which one is ultimate spell, which is gained
after leveling up. Ultimate spell is often very
unique and powerfull.

18. Champions

Champions are divided into categories. In the
game of Leage you can find: Bruiser – often
goes around the map, is highly mobile.
Assasin – is able to deal big burst of damage
in short time. Tanks – are type of champions
that are taking most of the damage in
teamfights. Junglers – their job is to secure
jungle area and help other players in their
lane. AD-carry – is often hero with ranged
attacks, focusing more on autoattacking,
rather than on using skills. Supports – As the
