So I was thinking about doing things that I usually do in Berlin. There was a few hobbies in Berlin I used to do is the sliding banister and also hanging out with my friends, which I can’t do in here at Out-with. But there is one thing I thought of, creating something to let me play alone. And the idea I came up with is creating my own Swing! I thought it would be fun and everything; I used to create swings with Karl, Daniel and Martin. So I saw Lieutenant Kotler with Gretel, which I really don't wanted to ask, but there is no other choice for me, so I went there asking him where there would be any spare tire. Then he shouted at Pavel to come and take me to the storage. So Pavel found me a tire and I made a swing myself on a large oak tree. The swing was done all pretty well. Not until I accidently slipped on fell on the ground. I hurted my knee and Pavel fixed it for me. He said he was a Doctor, which was hard for me to believe.. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />New House<br />Today I saw my new house in somewhere not near Berlin, we had to move in. The whole house is plain white and there is nothing around here! Not even a school or neighbor! Can you imagine a place without other people to play with? I really do not like this new house, I already miss Karl, Martin and Daniel and the best place every, Berlin. I wish we could move out of here whenever we can. This house doesn’t have any sliding banister and it is small. There are only three floors! The one in Berlin had 5 floors! I do not like this new house. I can live here for one day because I’m tired, and move back to Berlin tomorrow, but my mom said that we have to live here! But the things that haven’t changed is my dad’s office, his office is still on the first floor and it is “Out of bounds at all times and no Expectations”. I went to my room and I was expecting to see Berlin all the way from here so I can see the friendly streets and people but I saw something that didn’t make myself really comfortable, made me unsafe.<br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />Meeting new friend<br />Today I went to exploring! I went and ran in the forest, running and running all the time, for a very long time. Then I saw a black dot, and I kept running, because I was really excited that I discovered something. The black dot just became bigger and bigger and until I got to there (Finally!) it was actually a boy. This boy was sitting and there was a huge wired fence separating two pieces of lands. His name is Shmuel, interesting name right? Shmuel was wearing a pair of grey striped pajamas and he has a grey hat. But he was bold, he looked very filthy, everything on him is very dirty. He is very skinny and short. I talked to him, and we introduced each other a bit. We found out that we had the same age and the birthday! Everything is the same, really cool huh? I told him about that I like to explore, and I discovered him. Soonly I went home. I was sure that Shmuel will be my friend; I decided to meet him everyday. I’m really happy what happened today, because I had a new friend that I can talk to (hopefully we will) and not be alone anymore. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />Vivid Description<br />The Fence<br />The artifact I’m going to talk about and describe is the fence. It is a wire fence and used to separate two places. It is placed a separation from Bruno and Shmuel in this novel, because Shmuel is a Jew and Bruno is the German Commander’s son. It is gray, because it is a wire fence. This wire fence’s pattern is square shaped. Not perfectly squared, but closer to square, the length longer than the height. So it basically wired strings lining up vertical and horizontal, having a square shaped space between each 4 wired strings. The fence is tall so it is not possible for a human to jump over it, and it is wired so people touches it, there is electricity, preventing them from climbing. And the square is small enough that it is not possible for a human to get over it. It is stood on dirt, classic ground yellowish dirt and there is a forest on the German side of the fence, a big forest to run through that makes you feel like you have been running for hours. On the other side of the fence there is “not so nice” buildings and lots of people wearing striped pajamas and soldiers who wears uniforms with weapons in their hand. The wire fence surrounds a big area, which made Bruno think that it is a fence that separated the other side of the world. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />Short story/Drama script<br />Gretel and Bruno playing Chess<br />It was around 1 week after they just moved down to the house. Gretel got bored so she went to Bruno’s room. She opened the door without knocking and slammed the door behind her. Bruno did not like and told her to go away. Gretel didn’t and wandered in his room while Bruno was looking outside from the window. Gretel found chess, and she asked whether Bruno wants to play. Since Bruno was really bored too, so he decided to play with her. Bruno’s chess has always been better than Gretel, he won 2nd place in children’s chess in Berlin. Though Gretel has barely played chess. Gretel commanded Bruno to teach her chess; Bruno rolled his eyes and didn’t seem to be in a good mood, anyways he taught Gretel how to play. 3 hours passed, Gretel finally learned how to play. So they started with an easy match. At this time Bruno was doing the evil laugh. When they were playing chess, Bruno was did not need to think at all, because he knows everything, and he knows that Gretel doesn’t know any tricks, all she knows is the basic rules. So he went off just like that. But of course he couldn’t just make a move and lie down and wander around, he had to remind Gretel all about those moves. Surprisingly Gretel wasn’t annoyed at all, she was all patient, and actually with a smile. Bruno had to remind her, and they she said that she knows what to do, no need for him to teach her. So Bruno lie downs all the time, he is all sleepy and can’t remember a thing, not bothering to think about how to play the chess with Gretel.. So this is Bruno’s last move, he moved his horse and “CHECKMATE!” he had horrible laugh with his eyes closed, his face facing the ceiling and hands on his chest. But Gretel had an evil laugh and she turned the chessboard around. Surprisingly again Bruno was so sleep and confused that he doesn't even remember he played black, and looked back when he finished laughing. Then Gretel said “you mean I should be saying CHECKMATE!” and then Gretel got a terrible evil laugh. Bruno was surprised, and thought himself how this happened. That night Bruno couldn’t sleep until very late, but the next morning after waking up at 11 am, he forgot everything and so Gretel went to find Lieutenant Kotler and chat. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />Journal<br />My Discovery<br />I was really bored and then I wanted to go to exploring around Out-with. So I escaped to the place where it is restricted to go. It all began with me escaping for an adventure.<br />The adventure begins…<br />I was escaping, I was running, I can hear my breath. I didn’t feel anything except my heartbeat, pumping and pumping. I couldn’t think, I was running, running as hard as I can, not feeling the tiredness, not feeling pain, all I did is running and running, seeing the leaves opening a space for me, seeing light in front of me, seeing a black dot there. I was smiling. The dot became bigger and bigger and I could see it forming into a shape, and then into a figure, and the finally I saw what it was. A boy. There was a wire fence in front of me and the boy was on the other side. I stopped running. I walked slowly, with light footsteps, so light I can’t even hear it. The light started disappearing; the boy was starting to looking up. BOOM, everything went back to normal. This boy was very filthy, and wearing grey striped pajamas with a cap. <br />____________________________________________________________________________________________________<br />Making Swing<br />Before in Berlin with my friends, Daniel, Martin and Karl we used to make our own swings using tires. So I decided to create my own swing. I asked Lieutenant Kotler for a tire and he commanded Pavel to get me a tire. <br />The tire didn’t seem really good; it was a bit dirty, honestly. And it was pretty much heavy. I also asked Pavel for some ropes, and he took some for me, then I had to tie my rope and tire together. So First I have to climb up on the tree and tie the ropes tightly, then I have to come down again to tie the tire. Then I have to go up again to make sure it is steady and strong enough, then go down and test. If it’s still not good I have to go up again. And this is exactly what I did, for making my own swing, it took me 2 hours, believe it or not. But I think it was worth it and since I have lots of time anyways, I can just do it (better than doing nothing).
