2 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts,
where all the people gathered around him, and
he sat down to teach them.
3 The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought
in a woman caught in adultery. They made her
stand before the group
4 and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was
caught in the act of adultery.
5 In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such
women. Now what do you say?"
5. Missional Evangelism : Touch Broken Lives
Scripture Ref : John 8:1-11
6 They were using this question as a trap, in order
to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on
the ground with his finger.
7 When they kept on questioning him, he
straightened up and said to them, "If any one of
you is without sin, let him be the first to throw
a stone at her."
8 Again he stooped down and wrote on the
ground.
6. Missional Evangelism : Touch Broken Lives
Scripture Ref : John 8:1-11
9 At this, those who heard began to go away one
at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus
was left, with the woman still standing there.
10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman,
where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11 "No one, sir," she said. "Then neither do I
condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and
leave your life of sin."

Bringing people into the Church
through the front door ...
ïHelping them to stay ?

ïAnd not go out the âBACK DOORâ
20.
21. Application / Conclusion:
As a Church â âClosing Our Back Doorâ
Ref : John 8:1-11
ïWoman caught in adultery ...
ïTWO Important Lessons ...
22. 1. No COMPROMISE
âą Jesus did not excuse her sin ...
âą She was caught in the very act ...
âą A Sin is a Sin
ïand need to be dealt with
accordingly
ïJesus hated the sin...
but loved the sinner
âą Tendency nowadays to ...
ïexcuse sin...
ïtry to find scientific justification
for sin...
ïŒSin needs to be acknowledged
ïŒSin needs to be dealt with
ïŒSin needs confession â repentance
â Godâs forgiveness
23.
24. 2. No CONDEMNATION
John 8:10-11
Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman,
where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus
declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin.â
ïJesus did not CONDEMN her
ïJesus forgave her sin
ïJesus forgave her
25. 2. No CONDEMNATION or COMPLAINING
Rom 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for
those who are in Christ Jesus,...
Yet sometimes itâs in Church, among Christians ...
âą Ridiculed / Laughed-at / Gossip...
âą Shunned / Avoided / Rejected ...
âą Complaining / Condemning...
Esp people âdifferentâ from us ...
âą Socially / Academically
âą Economically
âą Culturally
27. Luke 18:9-14 Pharisee & Tax-Collector
"Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a
Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself:
'God, I thank you that I am not like other men
â robbers, evildoers, adulterers â or even like
this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a
tenth of all I get.'
"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would
not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast
and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went
home justified before God. For everyone
who exalts himself will be humbled, and
he who humbles himself will be exalted."
28. 3. No COMPARISON
V11-12
The Pharisee stood up and
prayed about himself: 'God, I
thank you that I am not like
other men â robbers, evildoers,
adulterers â or even like this
tax collector. I fast twice a week
and give a tenth of all I get.'
The Pharisee was COMPARING
himself...
ïwith the tax-collector ...
ïlisting all his âgood deedsâ ...
29. 3. No COMPETITION
We live & work in a very fast paced world ...
âRat-Raceâ ...
âDog eat dogâ ...
âEvery man for himselfâ...
â I, Me & Myselfâ ...
Out in the world â COMPETITION is King
Competition is good at times ...
Drives creativity, innovation ...
Challenges status quo ...
But in the Church !!!
30. 3. No COMPETITION
the word / idea is very foreign to the Bible ...
Closes to it is in Heb 10:24
ïâspur one another on towards love & good deedsâ
Opposite of Competition : UNITY
The Bible have plenty to say about UNITY
âą Rom 15:5 âspirit of unityâ
âą Eph 4:3 âunity of the Spiritâ
âą Col 3:14 âtogether in perfect unityâ
âą John 17:20-23
31. 3. No COMPARISON or COMPETITION
John 17:20-23
20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I
pray also for those who will believe in
me through their message, 21 that all
of them may be one, Father, just as
you are in me and I am in you. May
they also be in us so that the world
may believe that you have sent me.
22 I have given them the glory that you
gave me, that they may be one as we
are one: 23 I in them and you in me.
May they be brought to complete
unity to let the world know that you
sent me and have loved them even as
you have loved me.
