2. Definition of PCI Slot:
 Is a lot used to connect additional
extension cards to a PC.
 Some examples devices that use PCI Slot
are sound cards, TV tuners or modems, lan
card.

3.  PCI SLOT was introduced by Intel in 1992.
 It is designed according to the specifications
of the PCI Special Interest Group- a group
created in 1992 and supported by industry
leading computer manufacturer’s, aimed to
promote PCI as an industry wide standard.

1. CONVENTIONAL PCI
2. PCI-X
3. PCI EXPRESS

5. CONVENTIONAL PCI:
 Like PCI-x they have same architecture but
have different features and specifications.

6. PCI-X:
 is backward compatible with
conventional PCI.

7. PCI EXPRESS:
 are the fastest among the family of PCI slots,
ideal for the high bandwidth requirements of
the graphic cards.

8. ADVANTAGES OF PCI SLOT’s:
 allowing you to upgrade or expand your
expand your computer’s functionality,
quickly, and easily without the need of
expensive hardware replacements.
