Cintas Corporation (USA) Announces Fiscal 2020 First Quarter Results
• Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2020 was $1.81 billion, an increase of 6.7% over last year’s
first quarter. The organic revenue growth rate, which adjusts for the impacts of acquisitions, foreign
currency exchange rate fluctuations, and differences in the number of workdays, was 8.3%. The
organic revenue growth rate for the Uniform Rental and Facility Services operating segment was
7.5%, and the organic revenue growth rate for the First Aid and Safety Services operating segment was
13.8%.
• Gross margin for the first quarter of fiscal 2020 of $849.1 million increased 9.6% from last year’s
first quarter. Gross margin as a percentage of revenue was 46.9% for the first quarter of fiscal 2020
compared to 45.6% in the first quarter of fiscal 2019. Uniform Rental and Facility Services operating
segment gross margin as a percentage of revenue improved 150 basis points from last year’s first
quarter to 47.2%, and the First Aid and Safety Services operating segment gross margin as a
percentage of revenue improved 110 basis points to 49.0%.
• Operating income for the first quarter of fiscal 2020 of $306.1 million increased 15.4% from last
year’s first quarter operating income of $265.2 million. Operating income as a percentage of revenue
was 16.9% in the first quarter of fiscal 2020 compared to 15.6% in the first quarter of fiscal 2019.
Operating income in the first quarter of fiscal 2019 was negatively impacted by integration expenses
related to the G&K Services, Inc. (G&K) acquisition by $4.9 million, or 30 basis points.
• Net income from continuing operations was $250.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2020,
compared to $212.5 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2019, an increase of 18.0%. Earnings per
diluted share (EPS) from continuing operations were $2.32 for the first quarter of fiscal 2020,
compared to $1.89 in the prior year first quarter. G&K acquisition integration expenses negatively
impacted EPS in the first quarter of fiscal year 2019 by $0.04.

Johnson Controls announces the Norman Economic Development Coalition (NEDC) received a Project of the Year Award for Excellence
in Economic Development for its critical role in the expansion of the Rooftop Center of Excellence in Norman, Oklahoma. The NEDC,
which won in the category of cities with a population over 40,000, received the honor from the Oklahoma Economic Development
Council. The NEDC helped Johnson Controls secure $1.75 million in funding from the Oklahoma Economic Development Pooled
Finance Program, which helped fund construction of a new 400,000 square-foot laboratory and manufacturing space and renovations to
over 150,000 square-feet of office and meeting space. The expansion of the 900,000 square-foot facility had a tremendous impact on the
Norman community, creating 300 full-time jobs and adding an annual $110 million local economic boost. Overall, Johnson Controls has
a $350 million impact on the local economy.Over the past year, Johnson Controls has developed new products for existing lines and
launched two new series of commercial rooftop units that were designed, engineered and assembled at the Rooftop Center of Excellence.
The new series include the 25-50 ton Premier rooftop units, launched in December 2018, and, most recently, the 15-27 ton Choice rooftop
units launched in August 2019. The facility was also honored by Industry Week as a Best Plants Winner for empowering its employees to

Johnson Controls is working with Corvias on a $325 million investment into its Department of Defense (DoD)
portfolio in funding strategic modernization and resiliency improvements to U.S. Army base infrastructure. Johnson
Controls will implement technology upgrades to buildings, bringing the highest energy standards available to
approximately 16,000 homes.Implementation of this solutions investment begins with assessing the homes, then
prioritizing so that the most challenged assets are upgraded first. This will lead to an estimated $300 million in savings
over 30 years, due to greater business efficiencies resulting from upgrading critical existing infrastructure, technology
upgrades inside the home for more proactive maintenance and monitoring and a portfolio-wide reduction of energy
consumption. This work is being done without diverting financial resources from other existing core services or
customer needs.Corvias will lead the energy management services, inclusive of renewable energy and sustainability
services that create substantial portfolio efficiencies and improvements, through Sunstone Development (a joint
venture between Corvias and Onyx Renewables) working with Johnson Controls.
