How can I.T improved business - corey
1. How can I.T improve Business?
There are many ways IT can im-
prove business, I am going to
give some examples in this pro-
ject.
One way how I.T has improved
business is mobile phones. With
the improvement on mobile
phones users can send and receive E-mails. Some mobile phones have in-
ternet access and applications; with some phones taking it a step further
and making it possible to change a document on your phone and it will au-
tomatically change it on your computer using ‘cloud’ technology. Linking
mobiles to the internet, some of the top smart phones will have applica-
tions such as Skype on their mobile which they will be able to join a video
call from wherever they are which could come in use if their late to a
meeting but it dose rely on signal.
Internet has also had a big role in improving business with so many users.
of the internet advertising, on web-sties and search engines will allow
business to get people’s attention which will improve sales. With improve-
ments to internet communications, business can use electronic mail and
video calling. Such program such as Skype will allows for more than two
people to video call which means meetings ect can be held while people
are in different locations.
IT has improved customer service as
customers can receive help/advice
etc. from their web sites such as live
chat support or they can E-mail the
company.
2. The difference in technology from 2011
Since 2011 I have personally noticed a difference in technology. I have come across
more tablet computers and how they are advancing already, such as some basic laptops
now can transform into a tablet computer by simply removing the keyboard. With new
mobile phones coming out in 2012, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the IPhone 5
which is only one model up from 2012 but with big differences. Such as with the Sam-
sung Galaxy S3 you can simply turn the phone over, so the screen is facing down to put
the phone on mute when someone is calling you.
Drawbacks of new technology
There are not many draw backs to new technology
but one is the cost, as new technology comes out
its going to be more expensive and not everyone
has the money for it, as most people will always
want the next best thing.
Another problem for people could be that technolo-
gy is advancing to fast for them to keep up with,
which people then may find it difficult to be able to
use new technology and possible wouldn’t find the
advantage in the new technology but they may
have no choice.
As the old technology may have been discarded
such as Laptop computers are allot more common
than desktop computers.
Learning
With more information online I think it’s made it
harder to learn as some information online is incor-
rect, you also got to be careful of copyright and ref-
erence the websites you got any information from
even if you re-write the information. So when look-
ing for Information online to get to make sure the
information is correct find out if it’s a reliable
source and then references the web page/person.
3. Technology in cars and mobile phones
I think the technology which has
made the biggest difference is the
new technology in cars. The reason
for this is its the most helpful technol-
ogy as you don’t have to get your
keys out of your pocket and some
cars can even park them self.
The reason why I believe car tech-
nology has made the biggest differ-
ence is because prepared to mobile
phones and other technology has on-
ly changed things slightly
Technology is improving all the time,
some current new technology which I
have noticed is the improvement in mo-
bile phones with new software to make
the use of the phone that bit easier.
One example is the difference between
the Samsung Galaxy S2 and Samsung
Galaxy S3 . Recently the IPhone 5 has
been realised and as IPhones are one of
the most popular phones.
Between Samsung and apple they sold
over half of the total smartphone sales.
The difference in improvement in technol-
ogy from one model to the next is a lot
greater with cars than mobile phones.
4. Sales of mobile phones and computers
Device Shipments 2011 Annual growth
( millions )
Smart Phones 487.7 62.7%
Total PCs 414.6 14.8%
Notebooks 209.6 7.5%
Desktops 112.4 2.3%
Tablets 63.2 274.2%
Notebooks 29.4 -25.3%

Table: http://mobithinking.com/blog/2011-handset-and-smartphone-sales-big-picture
In 2011 smart phones were to top selling product at 487 million shipments but the
growth of tablets is very high if the growth of smart phones and tablets stay
around the same tablets in a few years would be the top seller.
Rounding the numbers: Predictions for 2012
Smart Phones – 490 million shipments Smart phones
Tablets – 60 million shipments 60% of 490 million = 290
490 + 290 = 780 million shipments
Tablets
Smart phones – 60% growth

5. Summary
All the information in this body of work has come from my own
knowledge, overall I think I have covered a lot of good things about
technology. I aimed to write about technology which people generally
use today instead of talking about upcoming technology such as the
Honda Robot.
The reason for writing about current popular technology is that I believe
it will make the information more interesting and people will be able to
see the good and bad things current technology gives to us.
I have also written about how current technology has helped improve
business for the better making it easier to communicate though I.T.
To get more facts and figures in my work I found a graph thought Google
which showed me the total shipments and growth of computers and mo-
bile phones, from reading the graph I noticed that tablet computers are
growing rapidly and I decided to do a 2012 total shipment prediction be-
cause I noticed this. I also included a graph which allows the data to be
able to be read easier and more clear.
I also edited some image to personalise them to the project and also
made the images stand out more by increasing the brightness and con-
trast on Adobe Photoshop.
