BEING A VEGETARIAN
WHAT IS IT? 
A vegetarian is a person 
who does not eat meat, 
poultry and fish.

Vegetarians eat mainly 
fruit, vegetables, legumes, 
grains, seeds, and nuts. 
Many vegetarians eat eggs and 
dairy products but avoid hidden 
animal products such as beef and 
chicken stocks, lard.

WHY DO WE NEED 
TO BE VEGETARIANS?
Some of us want to live 
longer, healthier lives or do 
our part to reduce pollution.
Others have made the switch because we want to preserve Earth’natural resources 
or because we’ve always loved animals and are ethically opposed to eating them.
DISADVENTAGES 
OF BEING A 
VEGETARIAN
LOW CHOLESTEROL LEVELS 
High cholesterol 
levels may 
cause death, 
it’s known. But 
low cholesterol 
may cause 
death, too. 
*Cholesterols are a kind of fats.
LOWER BONE MINERAL DENSITY 
Although 
vegetarians take 
their nutrients 
from non-meat 
products, 
researches show 
that vegetarians 
have 5% lower BMD 
than meat-eaters.
LOWER LEVELS OF VITAMIN B12 
There are a lot of 
vitamin B12 in meat 
products so, lack of 
these products may 
cause low level of B12 if 
you don’t get your B12 
from meat products. 
B12:a vitamin that is used by your body to keep your nerve system healty.
LOWER LEVELS OF OMEGA-3 
It’s known that there are a lot of omega-3 inside 
fishes. So, not eating fish may cause lack of omega-3.

A 2012 study randomly split participants into three diets: 
All meat allowed Fish only Vegetarian diet, no meat
The researchers found that after two weeks, the people on 
the vegetarian diet reported more mood improvements than 
those on the other two diets.
LOWER RISK OF CANCER 
Vegetarian diet has a lot 
of antioxidant nutrients 
so, this diet offers you a 
highly protected body 
against cancer. 
Antioxidant: matters that keep toxics away from your body
LOWER RISK OF DIABETES 
Studies have shown 
that vegetarians 
are at a lower risk 
of developing 
diabete.
LESS LIKELY TO BE OVERWEIGHT 
Researches show that vegs 
have lower body-mass index. 
So, this keep them 
away from obesity.
Not everybody 
knows that meat 
sector feeds the 
global warming, 
too.
