What is it?
A learning ‘sector’ is one that engages in continuous
learning and reflection and is thus able to adapt to
changing circumstances and demands.

Key points:
•Resource centres and learning alliances should
address real problems that people want to solve
•Good facilitation is a good investment
•Stakeholder mapping, participatory processes and
channels for effective many-to-many communication are
important ingredients

10 National Level Learning Alliance Platform (NLLAP) meetings –e.g.
•NLLAP 27:
-theme,”Assessing Human Resources Gaps in the Wash Sector in Ghana”;
hosted KNUST with CWSA, WRC, WD-MWRWH, EHSD-MLGRD, ILGS
and LGS.
•NLLAP 25: theme, “Assessment Framework for sustainable WASH
Technologies in Ghana.” hosted the WASHTech Ghana Project (TREND,
KNUST & WaterAid Ghana)
•NLLAP 23: theme, “Beyond the statistics about water service delivery in
Ghana: The SenseMaker Approach” hosted CWSA/Triple-S Project
•NLLAP21 on the theme, “The application of water and sanitation project
implementation cycle & impact on long-term sustainability in Ghana”

Use existing platforms
• Meetings (shared findings of baseline data)
• CWSA technical groups &
• Workshops, etc
Facilitating regional level learning alliance meetings
• Have identified partners to kick start the process of forming
a learning alliance platform
• Issues of funding and coordination of the Learning Alliance
sessions are being clarified.

11. LEARNING OUTCOMES AT REGIONAL
AND DISTRICT LEVEL
Northern Region:
•Uptake of functionality and service monitoring using FLOW in
10 additional districts
•Development of 1 year water service delivery action plans by
pilot districts to address issues emanating from baseline study
Volta region
•Technical assessment has been conducted on 66 broken down
boreholes - Akatsi District
•Procurement process for conducting water quality testing on
100 hand pumps have been completed by the Akatsi district
•8 boreholes have been repaired in 2 focus districts

WAY FORWARD
Consolidate the gains at the national level
•Develop ‘products’ from existing evidence to share on
the platform
•Plan for sustainable funding for the platform activities
and
• Growth/expansion RCN??
•Tracking impact more visibly

WAY FORWARD
Support establishment of learning and coordination
platforms at regional and district level
•Liaise RCN, SNV, WaterAid, WASH Alliance Ghana and
partners on taking this forward
•Develop ‘products’ from existing evidence to share on the
platform
•Funding for these activities in the initial stages
•Plan for sustainability (funding, content etc)
