On September 29, 2014, the AICPA, NASBA and Prometric have announced a new arrangement allowing Indian CPA exam candidates to sit for the exam in the Middle East. Since August 2011, the international testing centers were established in Japan and 4 Middle Eastern countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Lebanon and the UAE), and the centers in Brazil was open in 2012. Under the original plan, only citizens and long-term residents in the region can take advantage of taking the exam in these non-US centers. The latest arrangement is a pleasant surprise to international candidates especially the Indians. There have been strong demands from Indians on taking the CPA exam outside of the US. One reason is the cost, as long haul traveling and accommodation can be very expensive. More importantly, some Indians cannot obtain visas to travel to the US for the exam. It is encouraging that the AICPA and NASBA have found creative ways to satisfy this demand. For details, please read the presentation and watch the embedded video.
