Notas do Editor

  1. Welcome to IT services. We want to help you keep your IT ducks in a row by giving you our 10 top tips!
  2. Tip 1 we want you to keep three important things which you received at registration whether you registered on-line or face to face!
  3. The first thing to keep and of course read is the “Using IOE computing and library services letter” which has your computer username, email address and library pin. Do read the first paragraph carefully in order to change your password successfully.
  4. The second thing to keep and refer to during your course is the “Getting Started” guide which has essential information that you will need to use your accounts.
  5. Last and most important is your “student registration card”. You’ll need the library number for things such as renewing library books. The Student ID number is used to create your initial computing account password.
  6. Tip 2 You will need to change your password at first logon and every 90 days. You can change your password on a student workstation at the IOE or remotely via the Portal. Choose your password carefully to meet the “Password Rules” on page 3, otherwise it will be rejected. If you have enrolled online you will not need to change your password at first logon.
  7. Tip 3 As soon as possible once you have changed your password, register with the self-service password reset tool. You can manage your password here. https://passwordreset.ioe.ac.uk
  8. Tip 4 do use your Office 365 student email as you will receive useful information from Registry, the library and the Student Union on this email account.. Remember to sign in with your username followed by @ioe.ac.uk (e.g. iegca001@ioe.ac.uk)
  9. Tip 5. Your Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) username and password are the same as your computer account username and password. For help with Moodle email vle@ioe.ac.uk or call the Computer Helpdesk on 202 7612 6696.
  10. Tip 6: To use Moodle you must have already changed your computer account password (on an IOE workstation, remotely via the Portal or during Online Enrolment). You cannot change your password in Moodle
  11. Our Portal allows you to access your network drive and other services remotely. However we recommend you…
  12. Tip 6 we know lots of students prefer to use their mobile devices but remember before you first do you need to change your password and remember that your username is followed by @ioe.ac.uk.
  13. Tip 8 use the excellent software guides. They are detailed and comprehensive and will answer most questions you will have about MS Office and other applications. The guides and news of the latest training programme are available from the IT Training web pages.
  14. Tip 9: Explore our website and follow us on Twitter to find out more about our services whether you come to the IOE building on a regular basis, access all the services remotely or do a combination of both. Our top page provides you with links to information on our various services and our twitter feed.
  15. Tip 10: Do make sure you know where all the student workstations are. There are computers throughout the library. The PC labs may be booked by staff for training sessions so do check the timetable outside each room.
  16. Finally please ask for help if you need to. If you cannot visit our Helpdesk at the IOE we encourage you to phone our Help Line open 24/7 where a support person can resolve your issue on the spot.
