2. Telling the year
• in chinese the year is expressed by
reading the numerals in the given order.
• e.g 1986--------yī jiǔ bā liù (nián)
1905--------yī jiǔ líng wǔ(nián
1980--------yī jiǔ bā líng (nián)
2000-------èr líng líng líng(nián)

3. Telling the month
• The month is expressed by using the
numeral before 月（ yuè ）
• The names of the twelve months are:
yīyuè èryuè sānyuè …… shíyī yuè shíèr yuè
一月 二月 三月 …… 十一月
十二月

4. Telling the day
• The days are expressed by placing the
numeral before 日（ rì) or 号 (hào)
号（ hào ） is more often used in
spoken language.
e.g yī rì (hào)
sānshíyī rì (hào)
shíyī rì(hào)

5. The seven days in a week ,Sunday
through Saturday are named :
• xīngqī rì (xīngqī tiān) • zhōu rì
星期 日（ 星期 周 日
天） • zhōu yī
• xīngqī yī • zhōu èr
• xīngqī èr • zhōu sān
• xīngqī sān • zhōu sì
• xīngqī sì • zhōu wǔ

6. Telling the date
• The order of the year,month,day and week
in a date is year-month-day- day of the
week.
e.g 2011nián 12 yuè 5 hào(rì) xīngqī yī

7. Exercise
• Read the date .pay attention to the order.
1) 19hào 3yuè 1970nián xīngqīsān
2) 1600nián 12yuè 24rì xīngqīrì

8. Asking and telling the date
A: jīntiān jǐhào?
B:jīntiān 12yuè 9hào

9. Asking and telling the day of the week
• A: jīntiān xīngqī jǐ?
• B: jīntiān xīngqī sān.

10. 请 qǐng
• wǒ qǐng kè 我请客 .(it is my treat)
• xiàzhōu wǒ xiǎng qǐng nǐ qù wǒ jiā wán.
下周我想请你去我家玩 (I like to invite you to my home next
week)
• wǒ xiǎng qǐng màikè dāng wǒ de jiàoliàn
我想请麦克当我的教练。 (I ask mike to be my coach)
• qǐng kāi yíxià mén.
请开一下门 (open the door,please)
• tā qǐngqiú dàjiā de yuánliàng.
她请求大家的原谅。 (she asks for your forgiveness)
• tā qǐng le yǐmíng bǎomǔ zhàogù tā de bǎobao.
她请了一名保姆照顾她的宝宝。 (she has engaged a baby
sitter to look after her baby)
