This document contains descriptions of three logos designed by the author. The first logo uses an old-style microscope to represent their field of user experience design which requires close examination and established methodology, with orange used to seem modern, vibrant and friendly. The second logo was quickly designed for a mobile app idea using the Futura typeface in a tranquil cool blue with spaced letters for a spacious feel. The third logo represents a weather app and combines a globe with a calendar in eco-friendly blue and green, and was designed under time pressure while competing in a NASA challenge.
2. This is the logo I designed for myself, to be used on business
cards. The old-style microscope represents UX, a field that requires
close examination and that is grounded in established
methodology. The orange is meant to modern, vibrant and
friendly.
3. I designed this quic kly for my proposed E lbow Room app bec ause
I applied for a summer inc ubator on a whim, and needed a logo
for my “startup.” I started with the F utura typefac e (a personal
favorite), c hose a tranquil, c ool blue, and then spac ed out the
letters to give a feel of spac iousness, adding also the double
c hevrons for balanc e.
4. This logo was also designed under extreme time pressure while I
was a member of Team U mber, c ompeting in the N A S A
International S pac e A pps C hallenge held in A pril 2014 at
A lleyN YC . For our final presentation, we needed a logo to
represent our app, U mber the W eather, whic h makes ac c essible
global weather data for any date from the past 66 years, thus a
globe c ombined with a c alendar in ec o-friendly blue and green.
