A. Course Description
This course is especially designed for developing a competency of students’ writing, reading and speaking, particularly in academic
genre. It discusses topics such as correct and effective structures, grammar, and tenses in English Grammar course. In addition, taking
some lessons and exercises in understanding grammar construction are taught and discussed. All these topics are required by students at a
university level in order to be able to construct English sentences in spoken and written expressions grammatically.
B. General Purpose:
The Business English course is intended to help students become completely confident in their ability to speak and write standard
English, the style of English that is most likely to lead to success in their business, professional, or technical career.
B. Objectives
After taking this course, students are expected to be able:
1) To understand and write various types of English sentences grammatically
2) To avoid making error construction of English sentence
3) To comprehend and write various patterns of English grammar, such as present perfect and preset perfect progressive, future tense
and progressive, positive and negative agreement etc.
4) Improve their reading and writing skill in the area of business
5) To apply and build their abilities on the field study and career
6) To speak communicatively in English by having some practices of oral presentation

  • 1. SYLLABUS Course : ENGLISH 1 Credit Points : 2 sks Study Program : Semester/Class : Time : 16 Sessions (including Mid-Term Exam and Final Exam) Lecturer : IMAM FAUZI M.Pd A. Course Description This course is especially designed for developing a competency of students’ writing, reading and speaking, particularly in academic genre. It discusses topics such as correct and effective structures, grammar, and tenses in English Grammar course. In addition, taking some lessons and exercises in understanding grammar construction are taught and discussed. All these topics are required by students at a university level in order to be able to construct English sentences in spoken and written expressions grammatically. B. General Purpose: The Business English course is intended to help students become completely confident in their ability to speak and write standard English, the style of English that is most likely to lead to success in their business, professional, or technical career. B. Objectives After taking this course, students are expected to be able: 1) To understand and write various types of English sentences grammatically 2) To avoid making error construction of English sentence 3) To comprehend and write various patterns of English grammar, such as present perfect and preset perfect progressive, future tense and progressive, positive and negative agreement etc. 4) Improve their reading and writing skill in the area of business

Basic Course Outline (BCO) Sessions TOPICS / ACTIVITIES Skills developed 1 Introduction : Tenses (presentation – practice – produce) - Present perfect tense - Present perfect continuous tense - The difference between both PP & PPC - Tense building - Writing - Oral Speaking practice 2 Future plan using “will and be going to” - Future tense - Future progressive - What is the different between future tense & progressive - Writing composition - Grammar understanding - Speaking practice 3 How to Serve the Guests or Costumers (read a load) Questions : Yes / No Answers - Using simple present auxiliary (is, am, are) and full verbs (do / does) - Using modal verbs (can, will, shall, has/have to ,etc) - Reading comprehension - Oral speaking practice 4 Positive with Too/So and Negative Agreement Either / Neither (presentation-practice – produce) - Using auxiliary (is, am, are) in simple present - Using do / does / did - Using modal verbs (can, will, should, would, etc.) - Grammar comprehension - Writing - Speaking 5 Introducing to an email in English Types of point in formal letter: - Head of letter - Salutation - Content or discussion (purpose) - Closing - Reading - Creative Writing - Writing tips
