Forms of Pollution: Soil, Air, Water, Radioactive & More
1. FORMS Of POLLUTION
Soil Contamination
Air pollution
Water pollution
Radioactive contamination
Noise pollution
Light pollution
Visual pollution
2. SOIL CONTAMINATION
• Soil contamination or soil
pollution as part of land
degradation is caused by the
presence of xenobiotic
(human-made) chemicals or
other alteration in the natural
soil environment. It is
typically caused by industrial
activity, agricultural
chemicals, or improper
disposal of waste.
3. AIR POLLUTION
• Air pollution is the introduction
of particulates, biological
molecules, or other harmful
materials into the Earth's
atmosphere, causing diseases,
death to humans, damage to
other living organisms such as
animals and food crops, both the
natural or the building
environment.
• Air pollution may come from
anthropogenic or natural sources
4. WATER POLLUTION
• Water pollution is the
contamination of water bodies
(e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans,
aquifers and groundwater). This
form of environmental
degradation occurs when
pollutants are directly or
indirectly discharged into water
bodies without adequate
treatment to remove harmful
compounds.
5. RADIOACTIVE
CONTAMINATION
• Radioactive contamination, also
called radiological contamination, is
the deposition of, or presence of
radioactive substances on surfaces
or within solids, liquids or gases
(including the human body), where
their presence is unintended or
undesirable
6. NOISE POLLUTION
• Noise pollution or noise
disturbance is the
disturbing or excessive
noise that may harm the
activity or balance of
human or animal life. The
source of most outdoor
noise worldwide is mainly
caused by machines and
transportation systems,
motor vehicles, aircraft,
and trains.
7. LIGHT POLLUTION
•Light pollution, also
known as
photopollution or
luminous pollution,
is excessive,
misdirected, or
obtrusive artificial
light.
8. VISUAL POLLUTION
• Visual pollution is an aesthetic
issue and refers to the impact of
pollution that impair one's ability
to enjoy a vista or view.
• Visual pollution disturbs the
visual areas of people , creating
negative changes in the natural
environment
9. An Eco problem in our country
We have just spoken of pollution, now let’s remember the toxic wastes
that are hidden under the soil in the area close to Naples.
Naples is a beautiful city in southern Italy but is strongly hit by 'soil
pollution’.
In fact this city is well known as the “ Land of the fires “( la terra dei
fuochi). Pollution is bringing a strong unease among the population, since
the people are increasingly falling ill , with different forms of cancer.
WE MUST HELP OUR EARTH NOT to GET SICK BECAUSE IT Is OUR HOUSE…!
