The benefits of staying physically active
are continuously promoted for both
physical and mental health, but larger
benefits of supporting organized sports will
include new paths out of poverty as well.
These initiatives can range from large-scale
events that provide opportunity for large
investments of money and infrastructure—
such as the Olympics and the World Cup,
which have been hosted in the developing
world in recent years—to smaller projects that
focus on individual development and skills
training.
