Food insecurity in sub-Saharan Africa is a serious problem that requires urgent action. Increasing food availability through higher food production per capita is needed. While food production growth has slowed across Central, Eastern, Southern, and Western Africa since 2000, volatility has increased, threatening food security. Consistent interventions are needed across sub-regions to address slowing and unstable food production growth trends contributing to food insecurity.
