He was born on
February 7th 1812 and he
died on June 9th 1870.
He was an English writer and
social critic.He is generally
known as the greatest
novelist of the Victorian
period and the creator of
some of the world's most
memorable fictional
characters.
3. During his lifetime
Dickens' works had a lot of
popularity and fame, but it
was in twentieth century
that his literary genius was
fully recognized by critics
and scholars. His novels
and short stories continue
to enjoy an enduring
popularity among the
general reading public.
4. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Dickens. They were
very poor and Dickens had to leave school to work in a
factory after his father was imprisoned for debt.Though
he had little formal education, his early impoverishment
drove him to succeed.
5. Dickens would go on to write 15 major
novels and countless short stories and
articles before his death on June 9,
1870.
