2. The water polo is a sport that practise in a
swimming pool, where participated two teams.
The objective of the play is set the maximun
nomber of goals, in the opposing team's goal.
There are faults, temporary expulsions and
expulsions final.
3. Water polo has followed a different evolution in
Europe and the United States. Originally in the
U.S.A. was called softball and water polo ball was an
empty bag.
In 1897, in New York appeared the first American
regulations. At first players moved on floating
barrels, imitating horses and hit the ball with sticks
as decks, similar to those used at the pole
In the current version of polo, two teams of seven
players battle for four times seven minutes.
The men's water polo appeared in the Olympics in
Paris in 1900, and has been on the Olympic program
since 1908.
In every Olympic Games between 1928 and 1980 the
Hungarian team won an Olympic medal. In his
record six gold medals highlight of the 10 possible
between 1932 and 1976. If in 1984 Hungary had no
representatives in water polo at the 1980 and 1996
editions of the Hungarian team won the bronze
medal. In 2000, Hungary had a triumphant return to
Olympic competition to get his 7th gold medal.
The women's water polo made its appearance in the
2000 Sydney Games. The Australian team won the
first gold medal of this specialty.
4. Playing positions
There are six players and a goalkeeper on each
team. Players can not step on the floor of the pool
and the depth of the pool is not permitted. Players
have to keep all the time afloat, making them
possession of the ball to make a pitch to the opposite goal.

5. Attack
Traditionally players

can hit the ball with a closed
fist.
*He/she is the only one who
can touch the bottom of the
pool.
*He/she is the only one who
can jump with two hands at
once.
8. Positions in the field
The buoy: The most
characteristic since waterpolo.
Should be positioned near the
goal, to two or three meters. Its
function is to finish the plays.
Extremes: usually are two, one
on each side of the goal.
Central, or closing cubreboya:
are situated on the same line as
the buoy but further away from
the goal.
Sides: are placed between the
buoy and the ends.
9. Rules
- No player, except the goalkeeper, can catch the ball with two hands in any part of
the field.
- A player can score a goal with any part of the body except the clenched fist.
- Until the player releases the ball from his hand, the referee will whistle missing.
- If a player denies the opposing player's movement, this will be expelled.
- A player can earn two ejections
- If it sinks the ball or an opposing player you beep the sinks are missing.
- It prohibits water splashing into the eyes of a player.
- Each coach may request two timeouts throughout the game one minute.
- A player can steal the ball without grabbing the opponent
- You can spend the time you want your teammates until it expires in 30 seconds
you have to throw the ball at goal.
- Teams can be a maximum of 13 players, with a mandatory minimum of six
players and the goalkeeper.
- The duration of the game shall be four parts of eight minutes each, at regular
time.
- Each team will play with different colored caps (usually blue and white), choose
the local color, being red for goalkeepers.
- Players can not jump with both hands at once.

11. Field Measurements
A regulatory level uses the same rules for water polo World
Championship as those applied in the Olympics.
The dimensions for the pool to develop international
competitions must be 30 meters long by 20 meters wide and
1.80 meters deep.
In the case of female waterpolo measures are slightly lower
and the pools are 25 meters long and 17 meters wide.
Official Ball Water Polo Championship is similar in size to a
conventional football.
