        Depth gauge
6. Study the illustration of the 150 mm scale. Four points are marked for reading.
For each point, write the correct reading in the blank space of the corresponding
   number listed below.

   A. 10mm
   B. 12mm
   C. 107.5mm
   D. 135mm

7. Study the illustration of the 6-inch scale. Five points are marked for reading. For
each point, write the correct reading in the blank space of the corresponding
   number listed below.

   A. 1 16/64
   B. 2 10/32
   C. 3 12/32
   D. 4 17/64

       Z- 7/64

11. State the purpose of

            a. Hook rules: Hook rules, are used to make accurate measurements from
a shoulder, or edge of a workpiece.

            b. Short length rule: To measure openings and hard to reach locations,
where an ordinary ruler can’t used.

            c. Caliper rule: For inside and outside callipering.
d. Flexible tape: For making long linear measurements because of their
                     flexibility.

                  e. Depth gauge: To measure the depth of holes, slots, grooves and
                     recesses.

12. Name two types of outside calipers
a- Spring calipers b- Firm joint calipers

13. What is the procedure of using an outside caliper?

      Using Calipers for Outside Measurement

        I. Place the caliper on the work perpendicular to the workpiece axis.
II. Hold the top of the caliper (spring) lightly.
III. The diameter is correct when the caliper will just slide over the work by its
                  own weight.
IV. Find the distance across the caliper legs.

14. State the purpose of combination set.

             a- Square head: Marking 45o,90 o angles /parallel lines.
b- Center head: Measuring diameter and marking center lines on round
                     objects.
c- Protractor head: To measure and marking angles.

15. What is the purpose of surface plate?

The surface plate is combined with other measuring equipment. It is used to
             provide a reference surface.
