    better)

  Advertising campaigns
  Google Analytics
    Look for keywords and check rankings
Worksheet
Tips for Keywords
 Look for low hanging fruit – Page 2 rankings are
  much easier to get to Page 1 than starting from
  scratch
 When searching local keywords, use larger cities
  to find popular constructs (e.g., [city name]
  [service] or [service] [city name])
 Always check the relevance. Are the people
  searching on the keyword looking for the
  product? If not, don’t waste your time.

Keyword Research  Goal: find keywords that have adequate monthly searches and are not overly competitive  Monthly searches = monthly exact searches provided by Google via Adwords Keyword Tool (higher is better)  Competition = number of pages on the web with that exact phrase (lower is better)
  • 3. Keyword Ideas  Four sources:  Adwords Keyword Tool  HubShout Webgrader  Current rankings  Competitor rankings  Advertising campaigns  Google Analytics  Look for keywords and check rankings
  • 5. Tips for Keywords  Look for low hanging fruit – Page 2 rankings are much easier to get to Page 1 than starting from scratch  When searching local keywords, use larger cities to find popular constructs (e.g., [city name] [service] or [service] [city name])  Always check the relevance. Are the people searching on the keyword looking for the product? If not, don’t waste your time.
