The Constitution Require the following from a
Presidental Candidate:
Caucuses and Primaries
National and Convention
General Election
Electoral College
• Citizenship as a Natural Born Citizen
• Minimum Age Requirement is
at least 35 years old
• Residency requirement is at
least 14 years US resident
• Compete with others like you who are
interested in the nomination of your
party
• You need to set yourself apart by presenting
your own policies, ideas, priorities, causes,
and style on how things should be done
• Your party will hold a
national convention
to select, announce, and
celebrate your nomination
as the party’s presidential
candidate.
• You will announce your
choice of a Vice Presidential
candidate as your
running mate.
• Caucuses are local party events where
the partychooses a candidate and
select delegates for the convention.
• Primaries are state-wide
partyevents where the
party members
cast votes for their
chosen candidate.
• You’ll campaign throughout the country
seeking the interested populace to give
you and your running mate
their vote of support.
• But wait! Winning the popular peoples
votes is not enough to
win the presidency.
• The Electoral College is determined
by the samenumber of state
representative in congress.
There are a total of 538 electoral votes.
The Presidential candidate,
along with his Vice President,
who receives more than 270
electoral votes will be declared
the winner of the US Election.
