This is a love letter I wrote to my son, Jacob, who has Aspergers. We are walking for Autism Speaks on October 9th to raise awareness and donations for Autism. Jacob is my miracle boy and is everything to me. I do and will always do what is best for him.

I walk because.... (A letter about Autism Speaks Walk to my son, Jacob)
1. Why I walk for Autism Speaks
Dear Jacob William August Klein,
I walk because I would venture anywhere to help you reach
your potential. I walk because I am your mother.
I walk because you are a gift from God. You have made
me a more useful person, a fitter mother, a better woman,
and a more valuable human being.
I walk because you are mine. You are my miracle baby,
the first grandchild, the 13th grandchild, my only son, my
only child.
I walk because you are diverse in many areas. I walk because
people bully you because you are an individual. I walk to
get a grasp on Asperger’s and all of its various
dimensions.
I have become a strategist, a person full of resources, an educator, a volunteer, an advocate and
your number one fan. I walk because Autism is not just who you are but also a huge part
of ALL of our lives.
I walk to support others fighting our same battle. I walk for the wisdom and education.
I walk because you are courageous. You face your demons every day and still maintain your
dignity.
You view things in a more diverse aspect and have changed my perception and never fail to
touch my heart. I walk because you are one in a trillion and I like it that way.
I walk in order to listen to your stories about history and your monologues on video games. I
walk because you are intelligent.
I walk because I am perplexed. I walk for awareness and
discovery as I am in search for the facts and truth.
I walk because you are powerful. I walk because everywhere we
go, people are smitten with you.
I walk because every 20 minutes a child is diagnosed with Autism. I
walk for investigation and exploration.
I walk because I do not like the term “normal”. Your passion,
compassion, honesty, your beautiful face, and your laughter are
contagious. I walk because this is our destiny.

2. Why I walk for Autism Speaks
I walk to witness the future that belongs to you. I walk for the promise of tomorrow.
I walk because you are my inspiration and I love, adore and admire you. Always be yourself and
you can never fail at anything. I walk because you are an extension of me.
ALWAYS ON YOUR SIDE,
Mom
