17. Prisilla Rivera named MVP and Dominicans win fifth consecutive CACG title
BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, July 25, 2018.- Prisilla Rivera was named the Most Valuable Player
after Dominican Republic won their fifth consecutive women’s volleyball Central American and
Caribbean Games title beating host Colombia 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-19) at the twenty third edition
Barranquilla 2018 at Humberto Perea Coliseum.
Dominican Republic continued their winning streak that started in San Salvador in 2002, adding
their fifth title in a row and seventh overall. The champions won with undefeated 5-0 record. For
Colombia this is the first time ever reaching the Central American and Caribbean Games podium,
winning the silver medal with 4-1 record.
With the coliseum at full capacity, Dominicans edged Colombia with their dominant attackers and
solid blocking. Colombia’s young players never gave up but Dominican Republic trailed on point
after point with impressive 45-29 advantage in attacks and a huge 10-3 margin in blocks.
Dominicans committed 24 errors and Colombians a total of 24 errors.
With 15 points, wing spiker Brayelin Martinez and opposite Gaila Gonzalez led Dominican
Republic, and middle blocker Lisvel Eve collected 10 points. Wing spiker Dayana Segovia topped
Colombia with 10 points.
Puerto Rico won the bronze medal to Mexico in fantastic five sets 3-2 (26-24, 15-25, 25-19, 27-29,
15-12). This is Puerto Rico’s second bronze medal in the history of the Games.

18. Prisilla Rivera JMV y Dominicanas ganan quinto título consecutivo en JCC
BARRANQUILLA, Colombia, 25 de julio de 2018.- Prisilla Rivera fue nombrada la Jugadora Más
Valiosa luego de que República Dominicana ganara su quinto título consecutivo en el torneo de
voleibol femenino en Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe derrotando al anfitrión Colombia 3-0
(25-19, 25-17, 25-19) en la vigésima tercera edición Barranquilla 2018 in el Coliseo Humberto
Perea.
República Dominicana continuó su racha ganadora que inició en San Salvador en 2002, sumando
un quinto título en fila y séptimo en total. Las campeonas ganaron de forma invicta con record 5-0.
Para Colombia es la primera vez en la historia que alcanza el podio en Juegos Centroamericanos y
del Caribe, ganando la medalla de plata con record 4-1.
Con el coliseo a su máxima capacidad, las dominicanas se impusieron a Colombia con dominante
ataque y solido bloqueo. Las jóvenes jugadoras de Colombia dieron un gran esfuerzo pero
República Dominicana anotó punto tras punto con impresionante ventaja de 45-39 en ataques y
gran margen de 10-3 en bloqueos. Las dominicanas cometieron 24 errores y las colombianas un
total de 24.
Con 15 puntos, la atacante de esquina Brayelin Martínez y la opuesta Gaila González comandaron
a República Dominicana, y la central Lisvel Eve colectó 10 puntos. La atacante Dayana Segovia
lideró a Colombia con 10 puntos.
Puerto Rico ganó la medalla de bronce frente a México en cinco fantásticos sets 3-2 (26-24, 15-25,
25-19, 27-29, 15-12). Esta es la segunda medalla de bronce para Puerto Rico en la historia de los
Juegos,
