Compare And Contrast Apa And Mla Format
The different types of formatting I had to learn in college is getting out of hand. The all of the
different formats are loosely connected. The MLA format and endnotes are very similar in that
they are found at end of a paper, but you do not give put the author last name and page number
after it. I choose to use footnotes, because my laptop cannot decide what it wants to do. Another
difference is the lack of putting your last name before the page number in the header, but is similar
is APA Format. As you can tell I wrote off the script, because the paragraph was so lackluster. The
front, size of the front, the title located in the middle, and the front should stay in normal style. If I
had footnote after every single sentence, did even

How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay
Instructions of How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay
1
First look at the items you are supposed to compare and contrast. Do you understand them? If you
are writing an essay outside of class, look them up. Start with your text book but also look at your
notes from class, and even go and check them out at Wikipedia. If you are taking a test, and can't
look things up, pause and think over what these things mean. The next two steps will help you
remember.
2
Make a list of ways the two items are the same. This is the "compare" part of a compare and contrast
essay. (For an in class essay, it will be good if you can bring in extra paper. If you can't, you can
make some notes on the back of your blue book.)

If you feel they are more different than the same, start by comparing the similarities.
7
Now get to your point of view. If you are writing a classic "five paragraph essay" you may want to
spend a whole paragraph pointing out what is wrong with the arguments you made for the other
side. If don't have to meet a specific number of paragraphs, you can just get straight to supporting
your own point of view. Look at your list items that support you, and write about them all, and why
they are important.
8
With compare and contrast essays, the conclusion will be a lot like the introduction. You summarize
what you just said. You may find that some points came up in writing that you hadn't put in your
intro. This is a good time to refer back to those.
9
If this is not an in–class essay test, you should try to set the essay aside after you finish, so you can
go back later with your mind fresh. You may come up with a few other items you want to talk about
on your compare or contrast list. You may come up with a better way to write your introduction or
conclusion.
If you can master how to write compare and contrast essays, you will find that you can use that form
for a lot of other essays when the instructor doesn't give you a format.

There are two types of learning systems most commonly used in the world, Online learning and
Traditional classroom teaching. Online learning is basically a system which involves electronic
media and information. In simple it is getting training and communication research through
electronic media. It would not be wrong to call online learning, the 'future of education'. Online
learning does have some weak points, but the solutions that have been provided are more than
enough to cover up the cons. Online learning system is not perfect, it has some deficiencies, but
it's definitely the system of the future. Many people still prefer traditional universities as the best
way to get knowledge and a degree but online education is also a good proven alternative. Through
online education students can study in the environment they find comfortable and the time they are
free. All of this is for free as most online course which universities offer don't have any fee or if
some courses have then that is very less as compared to the price of normal course at a university.
This is the reason which gives online education an edge over traditional classroom learning. By using

First, rather than being tethered to a specific time allotment, the online degree seeker is able to learn
with complete flexibility. This is ideal for those with unconventional work hours, those working full
time, serving in the military or those raising a family. Moreover, the traditional method of lectures,
books and desks may not be the optimum learning environment for every student. In a New York
Times article, experts declared that the real promise of online education is "providing learning
experiences that are more tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms," which in
turn fosters the concept of "learning by doing." Many students find this engagement more useful and

Process Analysis and Comparison and Contrast Paper: Belgium and United States
Because I'm a foreign student from Belgium, I thought it would be interesting to compare and
contrast Belgium to the United States. When you first see and start thinking about the title
"Compare and Contrast Belgium and the United States", you will probably think that they are just
two randomly chosen countries who are pretty much equal too each other. You are absolutely wrong,
if this was your first thought. If you take a closer look to both countries, you will see some huge
differences between them. Belgium, a really small country, is located in northwestern Europe. The
neighboring countries are the Netherlands to the North, Germany to the East, Luxembourg...show

According the article from CNN 'Delta State shooting: Police seek suspect after history professor
killed', a professor of the Delta State University got killed after someone shot him in his office on
September 14. (Cnn, 2015) How messed up is this? Students and professors are not even safe in a
school or University. Public places like schools and universities, should be a place where everyone is
safe.
Another similar example happened on December 15 2012. According to the article from BBC
'Connecticut school shooting: Children among 27 killed', a gunman has killed 20 children and also
six adults at a primary school in the US state of Connecticut.
"The United States has the highest rates of firearm–related deaths (including homicide, suicide, and
unintentional deaths) among high–income countries. For youth 15 to 24 years of age, fire– arm
homicide rates, as documented by Richardson and Hemenway, were 35.7 times higher than in other
countries. For children 5 to 14 years of age, firearm suicide rates were 8 times higher, and death
rates from un– intentional firearm injuries were 10 times higher in the United States than other
high–income countries." (American academy of pediatrics,

1. The two types of organization that may be used in a compare/contrast essay would be either block
or point–by–point. With block, the first set of paragraphs covers one item completely and then the
other set of paragraphs covers the other item completely. In point–by–point, each point is addressed
in a separate paragraph, alternating between both subjects.
2. One thing I learned from reading this overview was the different types of methods there are
when comparing and contrasting two subjects. I didn't know there were specific ways to organize
just in general. As well as how point by point has a stronger effect on readers.

COMPARISON AND CONTRAST ESSAY
Comparison and Contrast Essay
Definition: In this kind of essay, the aim is to show the similarities and differences of two items, two
people, two countries, or how something or someone has changed. When comparing two things, we
focus more on the similarities though we may mention the differences shortly. When contrasting two
things, we point out the differences between them. The most important point to consider while
planning a comparison and contrast essay is choosing comparable items. e.g. Middle East Technical
University and Bogazici University. We have to make sure that these two items have enough points
to be compared. After writing the comparable points as a list, location, size, reputation, ...show more

Compare and Contrast
This type of writing assignment is common. On a standardized test, you may be asked to analyze
literature, evaluate ideas, or make a judgment and explain your reasons.
In responding to these types of prompts, you often will compare and contrast characters, concepts,
or choices. You will be asked to identify similarities and differences, which are the key to
compare–and–contrast essays.
There are ways to organize your thoughts about compare–and–contrast topics, which will help you
write thoughtful and balanced essays.

Compare And Contrast Friends And Family Essay
Today in our lives, we are surrounded by many people. Some of these people we are surrounded
by are either people we do not care for, or they are the people that we cannot spend enough time
with. These people we enjoy the most of, are either our family or our closest friends. You may think
that friends and family are just a like, but they do differ from each other, and without either of them
our life would feel incomplete. The definition of friends is a person whom one knows and with
whom one has a bond of mutual affection. Friends are the people you trust outside of your family.
These are the people that you surrounded yourself with by choice. The ones that you tell your
deepest darkest secrets to. The ones that you go to school with or hang out with on the weekends.
Your friends become so close to you they become your "family". For an example, my closest
friend, Kaitlyn Arrington, are always getting asked if we are cousins or sisters. Kaitlyn and I do
absolutely everything together. I share everything about my life with her, and she does the same
to me. I could not imagine my life without her. Friends are the family you get to choose. On the
other hand, you do not get to choose your family, you just have to deal with them. The true
definition of a family is a group of people usually of the same blood, but do not always have to be. I
have a large family. I have two sets of grandparents, two great–grandparents, two parents, two
brothers, three uncles, one aunt, one

The Compare/ Contrast Essay
First, let's explain compare and contrast:
When we compare, we show our readers a subject's similarities.
When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences.
Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you
gather and organize information.
This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of
facts, that helps you learn as you go.
You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will
discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there.

And you will either compare or contrast, not both. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can
make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use
several points at a time.
Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your
thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and
other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout.
Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should
offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both
to make a valid statement.
Transitional Words (Conjunctival Adverbs)
Use these words to help you connect your thoughts, your sentences, and your paragraphs:

Tessie's personality is somewhat similar to Paul's but they also have their differences. Paul is very
hopeful about winning the money his family needs, he has an incredible love for his mother. He is
also very passionate about horse–races. He has a real gift for picking a winner and it's this attitude
that leads him to make money for his mother and save their house from haunting them. Tessie is also
hopeful, hopeful that she will not 'win' the lottery. Of course, we find as we read that this doesn't
happen. Tessie does 'win' the lottery and she seems to be the only one that is saddened by this fact.
Little Paul is a very hopeful, fortunate boy. He so vividly pictures the horse races to come while
riding his rocking–horse, it's as if he's in the race himself and the rocking–horse is the winning
horse. In "The Rocking–Horse Winner", Lawrence really paints a imaginative picture with
descriptions such as with Paul's "big blue eyes that had an uncanny cold fire in them", and in
"The Lottery" Jackson paints a picture with words such as The town's children are collecting rocks
like young children regularly do. The men are "speaking of rain, planting, tractors and taxes." The
women are making small talk with one another. It seems like a regular day in a regular town." So,
in both stories the setting is different and the people are different but they have a similarity in the
fact that they are all gambling for something, whether good or bad. In reading these

The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste

"The Kiss" is more of a classic form of art and has been placed in more private areas. Although it has
a distressing grey color "The Kiss" has more depth; the feeling of intimacy is strong and makes a
statement.
There are both similarities and differences in "The Kiss" and "LOVE". The emotion and meaning
behind both are incredible, it shows and understands the meanings of love, lust, joy, and intimacy.
Love can either be spelt out or expressed by action and is what both pieces show. Love can be
interrupted in many ways, but there always has to be a kiss in love.

Comparing Email Vs. Traditional Letters
When compared on format, time and cost it is proven that emailing is more efficient than
traditional letters. In today's generation it is very rare for people to write traditional letters to each
other. This generation is becoming known for its quick and a technology based world. Emailing is
quick and simple and always at the tip of the fingers. Unlike emailing, traditional letters take time.
Emails are more commonly used than letters. This is because emails can be sent and received within
minutes. It is a much faster form of communication than a letter. In addition to the speed, an email
can be sent/received, emails can also be saved onto flash drives or directly on the computer.
Furthermore, with the new technology out today, many...show more content...
If someone is to write a more formal email you would start off by addressing the person by their
name and then get into the body of the email by replying to the purpose of the message. Most
emails are sent just for a quick reply.
Often times businesses use emails to communicate to other businesses, especially when dealing
with transactions. Having a record of when you talked to a person (email timestamps) is a
definitive way to make sure people hold up to their end of the deal. Businesses may also use emails
to share important documents with one another, you are able to attach a file and then you can share
any document you need to.
Communication through email is also able to cut down people's eco footprint. Using the internet to
share thoughts, documents, or have conversations cuts down the need for trees to be cut down.
When using an email, the only thing you need is the person's email address. Emails are not as
trustworthy as traditional letters however.
Traditional letters have a stronger trust behind them as most are hand delivered from door to door.
Often times with the capability to have a tracking number. Also like email, Traditional letters have
more of a formal format. Traditional letters usually start out with addressing the person in formal
way such as "Dear ... ", "Greetings ... ", "Good Morning/Evening/Afternoon", and etc.
A handwritten letter is seen as a more personal form of communication mainly because the

вќ– Definition: To compare is to show how items are alike. To contrast is to show how items are
different. Thus comparison and contrast involve pointing out the similarities or differences between
two (or more) items.
In deciding what to compare or contrast, you will want to make sure that the items share points in
common. Thus, the items compared are usually the same kind or class of thing, and in comparing
and contrasting them, you essentially establish two or more categories, showing the differences or
similarities between or among them. For example, you can compare two passenger cars–a Ford and
a Cadillac–...show more content...
But your readers will probably want to know what the similarity or difference amounts to. You can
write this for a thesis. However, once you 've noted the difference, the readers will see that you 've
merely stated the obvious. Thus comparison and contrast for its own sake is generally pointless, but
both are extremely useful to develop support for a thesis. To support the thesis statement we should
outline central paragraphs.
вќ– Central paragraph organization:
When you have decided whether to concentrate on comparison or contrast, you still must decide how
to do it. You should organize your comparison or contrast by whichever method suits your material
best. There are three different methods of organization of central paragraph: 1) Point–by–point or
alternating method 2) Block method 3) Mixed method
1) Point–by–point or alternating method: In this method you explain one characteristic of item A
and then immediately compare it with that of item B –and then you go on to compare the two items
point by point. For example when you want to contrast two brands of automobile e. g. Nissan and
Toyota to decide which to buy, you will consider such subtopics (elements) as price, mile per gallon,
length and width, comfort, and maintenance expense. Thus the organizational type will be:

Compare And Contrast Prepositions
Prepositions are one of the basic structures that make up the whole sentence. Even though some
sentences can hold meaning without the help of prepositions, others need it in order to be
completely understood. When first learning how to translate and interpret English to Vietnamese or
vice versa, students can face some difficulties regarding the use of prepositions. In both languages, it
is undeniable that prepositions occur at a high rate of frequency in written or spoken form; however,
they have different roles in term of characteristic and usage with a few similarities. Therefore, this
paper's purpose is to compare and contrast prepositions in English and Vietnamese to give students a

different in different languages?". That was the reason that made me first think of this topic when
deciding what to write about. Throughout this paper, we will cover from the basic definition to the
usage and characteristics of prepositions in both English and Vietnamese in a contrastive view. I will

Inexperienced teachers have a good subject specialism, this is generally fresh from their training,
however not much practical experience in the classroom and dealing with difficult situations.
"For many newly qualified teachers, while pupils provide the ultimate reward in teaching, their
poor behavior was often the cause of the major low points". In some aspects there is very little
difference in experienced or new teachers in relation to their knowledge in their subject, both
should know their subject well and keep their knowledge updated on a regular basis. Also both
want to make a difference to their students' life, to teach them to the best of their capability.
However there are differences in how they teach their subject, how they come across to their
students and how they manage their classrooms. More experienced teachers will be more confident
in their approach, more prepared to deal with a variety of learning needs, have made mistakes in the
past and learned from these to better prepare themselves for the future. Generally new teachers lack
the confidence to teach which can only be gained through experience, they need to learn what works
and what does not, reflect on this and incorporate this into their next lesson. New teachers do
however have a willingness to learn, to adapt, and to mould themselves into a confident and

The Dark Game Vs Code Book Essay
The Code Book by Simon Singh and The Dark Game, a book filled with true spy stories told by
Paul B. Janeczko both present similar ideas about code breaking; however, both differentiate in

presented the telegram to President Wilson. One week later, news of the Zimmermann telegram
was splashed across the front page of American newspapers. On April 6, 1917, the Congress of
the United States declared war on Germany and its allies", as stated in The Dark Game.
Furthermore, The Code Book is more scientific because it is in written in technical terms. In the
text, it reads, "Tension between the two sides escalated until June 1948, when the Soviets blocked
all western access to the capital. In this first real crisis of the Cold War, the West was not going to

Compare And Contrast Essay Format

  • 1. Compare And Contrast Apa And Mla Format The different types of formatting I had to learn in college is getting out of hand. The all of the different formats are loosely connected. The MLA format and endnotes are very similar in that they are found at end of a paper, but you do not give put the author last name and page number after it. I choose to use footnotes, because my laptop cannot decide what it wants to do. Another difference is the lack of putting your last name before the page number in the header, but is similar is APA Format. As you can tell I wrote off the script, because the paragraph was so lackluster. The front, size of the front, the title located in the middle, and the front should stay in normal style. • 2. How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay Instructions of How to Write a Compare and Contrast Essay 1 First look at the items you are supposed to compare and contrast. Do you understand them? If you are writing an essay outside of class, look them up. Start with your text book but also look at your notes from class, and even go and check them out at Wikipedia. If you are taking a test, and can't look things up, pause and think over what these things mean. The next two steps will help you remember. 2 Make a list of ways the two items are the same. This is the "compare" part of a compare and contrast essay. (For an in class essay, it will be good if you can bring in extra paper. If you can't, you can make some notes on the back of your blue book.) Sponsored Links...show more content... If you feel they are more different than the same, start by comparing the similarities. 7 Now get to your point of view. If you are writing a classic "five paragraph essay" you may want to spend a whole paragraph pointing out what is wrong with the arguments you made for the other side. If don't have to meet a specific number of paragraphs, you can just get straight to supporting your own point of view. Look at your list items that support you, and write about them all, and why they are important. 8 With compare and contrast essays, the conclusion will be a lot like the introduction. You summarize what you just said. You may find that some points came up in writing that you hadn't put in your intro. This is a good time to refer back to those. 9 If this is not an in–class essay test, you should try to set the essay aside after you finish, so you can go back later with your mind fresh. You may come up with a few other items you want to talk about on your compare or contrast list. You may come up with a better way to write your introduction or conclusion. If you can master how to write compare and contrast essays, you will find that you can use that form for a lot of other essays when the instructor doesn't give you a format. • 4. There are two types of learning systems most commonly used in the world, Online learning and Traditional classroom teaching. Online learning is basically a system which involves electronic media and information. In simple it is getting training and communication research through electronic media. It would not be wrong to call online learning, the 'future of education'. Online learning does have some weak points, but the solutions that have been provided are more than enough to cover up the cons. Online learning system is not perfect, it has some deficiencies, but it's definitely the system of the future. Many people still prefer traditional universities as the best way to get knowledge and a degree but online education is also a good proven alternative. Through online education students can study in the environment they find comfortable and the time they are free. All of this is for free as most online course which universities offer don't have any fee or if some courses have then that is very less as compared to the price of normal course at a university. This is the reason which gives online education an edge over traditional classroom learning. By using online education students can...show more content... First, rather than being tethered to a specific time allotment, the online degree seeker is able to learn with complete flexibility. This is ideal for those with unconventional work hours, those working full time, serving in the military or those raising a family. Moreover, the traditional method of lectures, books and desks may not be the optimum learning environment for every student. In a New York Times article, experts declared that the real promise of online education is "providing learning experiences that are more tailored to individual students than is possible in classrooms," which in turn fosters the concept of "learning by doing." Many students find this engagement more useful and more Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When you first see and start thinking about the title "Compare and Contrast Belgium and the United States", you will probably think that they are just two randomly chosen countries who are pretty much equal too each other. You are absolutely wrong, if this was your first thought. If you take a closer look to both countries, you will see some huge differences between them. With block, the first set of paragraphs covers one item completely and then the other set of paragraphs covers the other item completely. In point–by–point, each point is addressed in a separate paragraph, alternating between both subjects. 2. One thing I learned from reading this overview was the different types of methods there are when comparing and contrasting two subjects. I didn't know there were specific ways to organize just in general. As well as how point by point has a stronger effect on readers. 3. • 9. Compare And Contrast Friends And Family Essay Today in our lives, we are surrounded by many people. Some of these people we are surrounded by are either people we do not care for, or they are the people that we cannot spend enough time with. These people we enjoy the most of, are either our family or our closest friends. You may think that friends and family are just a like, but they do differ from each other, and without either of them our life would feel incomplete. The definition of friends is a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection. Friends are the people you trust outside of your family. These are the people that you surrounded yourself with by choice. The ones that you tell your deepest darkest secrets to. The ones that you go to school with or hang out with on the weekends. Your friends become so close to you they become your "family". For an example, my closest friend, Kaitlyn Arrington, are always getting asked if we are cousins or sisters. Kaitlyn and I do absolutely everything together. I share everything about my life with her, and she does the same to me. I could not imagine my life without her. Friends are the family you get to choose. On the other hand, you do not get to choose your family, you just have to deal with them. The true definition of a family is a group of people usually of the same blood, but do not always have to be. I have a large family. I have two sets of grandparents, two great–grandparents, two parents, two brothers, three uncles, one aunt, one Get more content on HelpWriting.net

When we contrast, we show our readers a subject's differences. Compare and Contrast essays are learning–process essays. You learn about your subject as you gather and organize information. This type of essay takes a bit of organization, and it's this organizational process, this gathering of facts, that helps you learn as you go. You will create lists of qualities or traits that each of your subjects has, and as you do this, you will discover insights to your subject that, at first glance, you may not have realized were there. Be careful, sometimes going point by point can make your writing sound tedious and repetitive. Watch your language and transition words. Use several points at a time. Ending: As in the argumentative essay, bring it all together. Allow your ending to go back to your thesis. Use the transitional words on the next page to help your paper's coherence. Transitions and other connecting words and connecting sentences should be used throughout. Remember: There are no hard and fast rules as to how many comparisons or contrasts you should offer. For a thorough look into your subject, you must offer enough comparisons or contrasts or both to make a valid statement. Tessie's personality is somewhat similar to Paul's but they also have their differences. Paul is very hopeful about winning the money his family needs, he has an incredible love for his mother. He is also very passionate about horse–races. He has a real gift for picking a winner and it's this attitude that leads him to make money for his mother and save their house from haunting them. Tessie is also hopeful, hopeful that she will not 'win' the lottery. Of course, we find as we read that this doesn't happen. Tessie does 'win' the lottery and she seems to be the only one that is saddened by this fact. Little Paul is a very hopeful, fortunate boy. He so vividly pictures the horse races to come while riding his rocking–horse, it's as if he's in the race himself and the rocking–horse is the winning horse. In "The Rocking–Horse Winner", Lawrence really paints a imaginative picture with descriptions such as with Paul's "big blue eyes that had an uncanny cold fire in them", and in "The Lottery" Jackson paints a picture with words such as The town's children are collecting rocks like young children regularly do. The men are "speaking of rain, planting, tractors and taxes." The women are making small talk with one another. It seems like a regular day in a regular town." So, in both stories the setting is different and the people are different but they have a similarity in the fact that they are all gambling for something, whether good or bad. In reading these

Were we ever taught love or is it just a natural feeling towards a person? Some say you'll know the meaning of love when you fall in love, yet some don't believe in love at all. The sculpture "LOVE" created by Robert Indiana and the sculpture "The Kiss" made by Auguste Rodin both share some of the same meanings behind the art work (Indianapolis Museum of Art) (Rodin's The Kiss Sculpture). In today's generation it is very rare for people to write traditional letters to each other. This generation is becoming known for its quick and a technology based world. Emailing is quick and simple and always at the tip of the fingers. Unlike emailing, traditional letters take time. Emails are more commonly used than letters. This is because emails can be sent and received within minutes. It is a much faster form of communication than a letter. In addition to the speed, an email can be sent/received, emails can also be saved onto flash drives or directly on the computer. Furthermore, with the new technology out today, many...show more content... If someone is to write a more formal email you would start off by addressing the person by their name and then get into the body of the email by replying to the purpose of the message. Most emails are sent just for a quick reply. Often times businesses use emails to communicate to other businesses, especially when dealing with transactions. Having a record of when you talked to a person (email timestamps) is a definitive way to make sure people hold up to their end of the deal. Businesses may also use emails to share important documents with one another, you are able to attach a file and then you can share any document you need to. Communication through email is also able to cut down people's eco footprint. Using the internet to share thoughts, documents, or have conversations cuts down the need for trees to be cut down. When using an email, the only thing you need is the person's email address. Emails are not as trustworthy as traditional letters however. Traditional letters have a stronger trust behind them as most are hand delivered from door to door. Often times with the capability to have a tracking number. Also like email, Traditional letters have more of a formal format. Traditional letters usually start out with addressing the person in formal way such as "Dear ... ", "Greetings ... • 17. Comparison and Contrast In the name Allah"" Professor: Dr.Bahman Amani Prepared by: Akbar Akbari Place: IAU Maraghe Date: May 6th 2010 вќ– Definition: To compare is to show how items are alike. To contrast is to show how items are different. Thus comparison and contrast involve pointing out the similarities or differences between two (or more) items. In deciding what to compare or contrast, you will want to make sure that the items share points in common. Thus, the items compared are usually the same kind or class of thing, and in comparing and contrasting them, you essentially establish two or more categories, showing the differences or similarities between or among them. For example, you can compare two passenger cars–a Ford and a Cadillac–...show more content... But your readers will probably want to know what the similarity or difference amounts to. You can write this for a thesis. However, once you 've noted the difference, the readers will see that you 've merely stated the obvious. Thus comparison and contrast for its own sake is generally pointless, but both are extremely useful to develop support for a thesis. To support the thesis statement we should outline central paragraphs. вќ– Central paragraph organization: When you have decided whether to concentrate on comparison or contrast, you still must decide how to do it. You should organize your comparison or contrast by whichever method suits your material best. There are three different methods of organization of central paragraph: 1) Point–by–point or alternating method 2) Block method 3) Mixed method 1) Point–by–point or alternating method: In this method you explain one characteristic of item A and then immediately compare it with that of item B –and then you go on to compare the two items point by point. For example when you want to contrast two brands of automobile e. g. Nissan and Toyota to decide which to buy, you will consider such subtopics (elements) as price, mile per gallon, length and width, comfort, and maintenance expense.
