How do you determine if a solution/ mixture is a good buffer? Like just by looking at an acid and a base and they\'re concentrations. I know what a buffer is and what it does but if given an acid and a base how you you know if theyre good or not?

usually , for acidic buffer : if pH = pka , it is good buffer. it is possible only ,when [Acid] = [Base]
basic buffer : if pOH = pkb , it is good buffer. it is possible only,when [Acid] = [Base] .
so that, when concentrations of both acid,base are equal.then it is a good buffer.
