1. Media Evaluation Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
2. What company would distribute my magazine? The company that I researched, and thought would suit my type of audience, would be BBC Magazines. BBC Magazines is commercial subsidiary of the well known BBC television company. This company are most known for distributing more adult and toddlers magazines, so if my magazine was distributed by BBC Magazines, I would bring along a target audience, and a pre existing fan base for the celebrities that are depicted in my own magazine.
3. About BBC Magazines… BBC Magazines is the magazine publishing division of BBC Worldwide, the commercial subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation. The most notable magazines distributed by BBC is – Radio Times, Top Gear, Top of the Pops, Cbeebies Weekly. You can also subscribe to these, and buy online! Owns over 34 titles.
4. Why did I choose BBC Magazines? The only teen music magazine that this company has at the moment is Top of the Pops, which is similar to mine, so there is definitely a gap in their portfolio to distribute my magazine as the rest of the magazines that they distribute are for pre-teens, such as Girl Talk and W.I.T.C.H. Also, the BBC are very respected and well known company, so using this company would also give my magazine a good reputation. The BBC is also commonly known for being slightly serious for and for an older audience, so if my magazine was distributed with this company, the BBC would no longer been seen as this, as I shall bring along a different aged target audience.
5. Places that would sell my magazine… WHSmith Asda/Tescos(Supermarkets) Newsagents Music Stores Part of a larger magazine, e.g News of the World Makeup stores e.g Superdrug, Boots, Claires. I chose to distrubite my magazine in these places as this is where my target audience will most probably be found, therefore they will most likely to come across the magazine.
