Me llamo = My name is
Te llamas = Your name is
Se llama = his/her name is
You do not need to use es after se llama or me llamo. It sounds funny.
Ejemplo:
Ella se llama Erika. Mi padre se llama Jorge. Mi tía se llama Luisa.
Yo me llamo Señor Hall
Do not say: Yo me llamo es Señor HallDo not say: Yo me llamo es Señor Hall
Vivir = to live

ir verb endings for vivir
Take off the -ir at the end and add:
Yo -o vivo
Tú -es vives
El/ella/usted -e vive
nosotros -imos vivimos
vosotros -ís vivís
ellos/ellas/ustedes -en viven
Ser = to be
Ser = to be
Yo soy = I am
Tú eres = You are
El/ella es = He/she is
Nosotros somos = We are
Vosotros soís = Y'all are
Ellos/ellas son = They are
Use Ser in the following
situations:
Physical Descriptions
Soy alta y delgada. - I am tall and
thin.
Silvia es pelirroja y baja. - Silvia is
red-headed and short.
The Relationship a Person has
with Someone Else

A Person’s Nationality or


Mayor looks like Mayor or Major & means older

Menor looks like minor and means younger.

Ejemplos

Mi madre es mayor que yo.

Mi hermano es menor que yo.
Remember the subtle differences between the 2 words mucho/a and muy:
Muy & Mucho/a/os/as
muy = very
mucho/a or muchos/as = a lot/much
Examples:
Yo soy muy inteligente. = I am very intelligent.
Mi hermana es muy alta. = My sister is very tall.
Juan tiene muchos amigos. = Juan has a lot of friends.
No tengo mucho dinero. = I don't have a lot of money.
Use mucho/a or muchos/as with things (nouns).

El/ella es = He/she is
Nosotros somos = We are
Vosotros soís = Y'all are
Ellos/ellas son = They are
Use Ser in the following

Yo say how old someone is you
use tener + age + años.
tener = to have
Ex: Mark tiene treinta años.
Mi hermano tiene siete
años. Mi tío tiene treinta y
nueve años.
YOU CANNOT SAY Mark es
treinta. It doesn't make
sense in Spanish.
In Spanish you have your
Tener (e>ie) = to have
Tengo = I have
tienes = you have
tiene = he or she has
tenemos = we have
tenéis = yall have
tienen = they have
Notice how the e changes to an ie
(e>ie) for all forms but nosotros
and vosotros. Also the yo form
tengo is irregular. Other than
that it has all the regular -er verb
endings

Adjectives in Spanish
Make sure your adjectives (descriptive words like good &
red) agree in gender and number with the thing it
describes:

Ella es simpática. She is nice. (She is a girl thus the
adjective simpática ends in an a.)

Marco es ordenado. Marco is organized. (Marco is a boy
thus the adjective ordenado ends in an o.)
Same goes for plural adjectives:

Ellas son trabajadoras. (There are many hard workinging
girls so we add an s to trabajadoras.)

Ellos son talentosos. (There are many talented boys so
we add an s to talentosos.)

In Spanish you have your Tener (e>ie) = to have Tengo = I have tienes = you have tiene = he or she has tenemos = we have tenéis = yall have tienen = they have Notice how the e changes to an ie (e>ie) for all forms but nosotros and vosotros. Also the yo form tengo is irregular. Other than that it has all the regular -er verb endings

  • 28. Adjectives in Spanish Make sure your adjectives (descriptive words like good & red) agree in gender and number with the thing it describes:  Ella es simpática. She is nice. (She is a girl thus the adjective simpática ends in an a.)  Marco es ordenado. Marco is organized. (Marco is a boy thus the adjective ordenado ends in an o.) Same goes for plural adjectives:  Ellas son trabajadoras. (There are many hard workinging girls so we add an s to trabajadoras.)  Ellos son talentosos. (There are many talented boys so we add an s to talentosos.)
