3. Soccer, also known as
football (fútbol), is a
nationwide sport
played professionally
or as a hobby in many
countries.
4. History
When was soccer invented? Who invented soccer?
Where did soccer originate from? How did soccer
came to be? Etc.
The question of when soccer was invented is a
question that is hard to answer. The origins of
soccer go way back to the Han Dynasty in second
century China. Evidence also points towards
soccer having begun in Greece and Rome.
Different Forms of Soccer:
• China – Tsu chu (“kicking ball”)
• Japan – Kemari
• 16th Century Italy – Calcio Fiorentino
England:
• Country that invented modern soccer as it is
known today
• Where the very first association for soccer was
founded
9. I became interested in the sport during the 6th grade when my older brother
started playing. Truthfully, the sport runs in my family. My dad played soccer
for a Hmong team by the name of Believe. My brother followed him; I
followed my older brother; My younger brother followed me; and so on. My
three younger siblings also came to play soccer as well.
I played soccer for Table Rock Middle School from 7th grade to 8th grade. I started
out as a left defender, then I moved to left mid-field, and officially to center mid-
field. I became a team captain in my 8th grade year, and that same year we went to
the Conference Champions. We lost 0-1; the other team scored in the last 10
minutes of the game.
I had intentions of continuing soccer after middle
school, but things happened and I was not able to.
“I am a member of a team, and I rely
on the team, I defer to it and sacrifice
for it, because the team, not the
individual, is the ultimate champion.”
- Mia Hamm
