  1. Scanning is one of the most common ways to begin digitization; Scanning objects that are not flat may cause some image distortion.

  5. JPEG 2000 may be useful for scanning items like large maps, but it is not very easy to create the files because not many scanners support them
  6. TIFFS are good if you plan to make prints of an image, or if you plan to edit images.
