2. HOW MY PRODUCT REFLECTS SPECIFIC
TRENDS/CONTEXTS?
• My video product includes myself, a caucasian male, as it’s one and only
presenter. However the film my video is based on includes mildly diverse
cast in terms of nationality. The actors come from the U.K, Brazil and
American, and Argentine. This allows this film itself AND my product to
appeal to a wider/more international audience.
• My product is on YouTube for my audience to come across and see. I can
put a link to the video in my account bio’s on social media, that way my
followers will be able to access it.
• The only social topic I can think my video focuses on is the way it discusses
how the film is promoted on social media.
3. DID I MEET THE BRIEF?
• I believe I met the brief in terms of that area, however the only
social media I chose to study was the films Instagram account,
when the film also had a Twitter and a Facebook page, but I
feel that if I had covered those as well as the Instagram account
it would’ve made my video longer and over the time limit.
Overall I think I met what the brief was asking of me.
4. EXISTING PRODUCTS FROM RESEARCH
• Comparing my work to existing products I looked at in my research,
the lighting I used was more inspired by Tarantinos “Pulp Fiction”,
not just the scene I researched but other scenes from other parts of
the film as well, to gain more ideas.
• The sound mixing from the club scene in Finchers “The Social
Network” as inspiration for scenes where my dialogue is overlapping
the music I use to play in the background. I think the audio mixes
well together for the most part, although I think I could have edited it
better in some parts in terms of the volume .
• Although I think my work is good the products from the research are
inarguably superior in every way.
5. COMPARING TO MY PREVIOUS PROJECTS
• Upon comparing this project to my previous ones I’d say this one is one of if
the most restricted, I have a time limit to three minutes maximum and and I
have maintain an interesting topic of how social media was used in a film
production. I would say this doesn’t hold up as well compared to most of my
media projects from my previous years at college, however I say I made the
best effort of squeezing all the information into a small amount of time. I
wouldn’t say that there are many if any similarities between this work and
my previous ones.
• From my previous work I seemed to have learned how to overlap video audio
and drag it under separate scenes. I have used that in my project for last
year and ones before it.
6. IS THIS APPROPRIATE FOR MY TARGETED
AUDIENCE?
• I think my product does appeal to my intended target audience. The
film I discuss is in a way a teen drama film and in my audience
research it shows that some of my audience are into teen dramas. It
also shares elements of a sci-fi action film which also appeals to my
audience.
• I myself am the presenter of the documentary and I am a young
adult, therefore I am leaning more towards the age range of my
target audience.
• The documentary is also filled with checked and well known facts
about the film, so this appeals to the area of my audience.
7. AESTHETICS/QUALITY OF MY WORK
• I think there is a contrast of what I think of the editing in the film, in terms
of video and audio. Personally I think the visual editing of the film was the
best part of that aspect of it, especially considering the fact I had to squeeze
all the information into a short limited runtime. Audio-wise for the majority
is also fine, however there are some scenes towards the end that are too
loud and don’t have a very good reverb to them. This is something quick
that can be fixed in post.
• In terms of techniques, for the few seconds of the documentary that include
footage of the movie I put the name of the company that owns the footage
at the bottom left hand of the screen. To do this I tapped “Title-standard-
full clip duration” then typed what I needed to type and then moved the text
to the bottom of the screen.
