2. The Princess Diaries
In the trailer for the princess
diaries, the company ident
appears at 1:29. it is a still
image which appears over the
moving images of the trailer
behind. The ident appears from
1:29 until 1:32 and is a
production company.
Although we looked at these trailers for
inspiration for our teaser trailer, they are
full trailers and therefore we will have to
look at other teaser trailers in order to
get more of an idea about where the
idents would appear and how long for in
a teaser trailer rather than a full length
trailer.
We like the idea of the text used within the ident-the
calligraphy like text used for the ‘Walt Disney’
and the plain text used for the ‘pictures presents’
below. From this we were inspired to use this idea
not for our ident, but for our title. We like the
simplicity of the ident and the fact that it appears
when the image behind is still moving, therefore it
appears as part of the trailer and doesn’t take the
audiences attention away from the trailer. From
this we decided that we would incorporate the
idea of having text over our moving image.
3. Submarine
The Weinstein Company is a distribution company and is the first ident to
appear out of the three. This ident appears at 0:11 and stays on screen
until 0:12. This is a still image on a black background. Then the FILM 4
ident appears which is one of the production companies involved in the
making of the film. This ident appears at 0:12 until 0:13 and is also a still
image on a black background. Next to appear is the UK FILM COUNCIL
LOTTERY FUNDED ident. The UK film council were also involved in the
production of the company, and their ident appears at 0:13 until 0:14 and
once again is is a still image on a black background. The idents move on
and off the screen in quick procession with a total time of 4 seconds.
Although we looked at these trailers for inspiration for our teaser trailer, they are full
trailers and therefore we will have to look at other teaser trailers in order to get more of an
idea about where the idents would appear and how long for in a teaser trailer rather than a
full length trailer.
4. Angus Thongs And Perfect Snogging
The first ident to appear is the
Paramount ident which comes onto
the screen at 0:05. However this is
unlike the previous 2 trailers we have
looked at as it is a moving image on
screen. The ident is on screen until
0:06 and then this is immediately
followed by the Nickelodeon ident
which appears at 0:06 until 0:07.
Paramount is a distribution company
and the film was produced by
Nickelodeon.
Although we looked at these trailers for inspiration for our
teaser trailer, they are full trailers and therefore we will
have to look at other teaser trailers in order to get more
of an idea about where the idents would appear and how
long for in a teaser trailer rather than a full length trailer.
5. Miss Congeniality
We also looked at the teaser trailer for Miss Congeniality. Within
the first second of the teaser, all 3 of the idents appear in quick
succession and were on screen for 0.33 of a second each.
Warner bros are a distribution company and appear first out of
the 3 idents. Next to appear are the Castlerock Entertainment
and the village roadshow pictures idents which are production
companies. All 3 idents also appear at the end of the trailer
along the bottom of the screen on top of the moving image
behind for 2 seconds.
We don’t particularly like the way that these idents appear as they appear too quickly
and it is difficult to see who the producers and distributors are and it is quite
confusing. We like the fact that all of the ident have the same sort of colour scheme,
however we feel that the idents do not portray that they have created a film targeted
at a younger audience.
