Game Title Dead island
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting At the beginning of the clip you hear serene but tragic type music and sounds of
screaming this would set the scene for something like a horror game where the
characters are running away from someone or something.
The sounds of screaming good have been create
using a high quality microphone so that when it
was played back it would come cross clear and
loud so that not further editing would have been
needed to enhance the sound
Mood The mood in the clip suggests that it is a sad and helpless mood put across by the
music that is used to create this particular mood also the mood of fear is put across
by the panting of what seems to be a little girl running away from a hoard to show
her fear and panic.
To create this music I think they used an orchestra
to for the music used in the video clip I then think
that the soundtrack would have been then put
into a sound editing software so that it wouldn’t
completely takeover the sounds used in the video.
Game genre The horror genre is shown through the small amount of sound used mixed with the
sounds of snarls and panting and screams this would lead to suggest that the game
will have a lot of jump scare and having you run from your enemy.
The snarls and panting would of been made using
a high quality microphone and edited later to
change pitch and depth and maybe distance so it
isn’t so direct and closer then it should be.
Narrative The narrative in this video clip would suggest that the games story is about surviving
a zombie apocalypse and being able to fight them back when needing to. Also I think
it will be about escaping as it would seem that the running sounds show there trying
to escape from the horror at large. The music suggests that the story will be a
desperate battle and struggle to be free.
the soundtrack would have been created for this
story so that it could have fit perfectly into the
narrative of the game and I think the production
techniques used for the soundtrack would have
been in a sound editing system so that it would
have been made quieter to set more of a mood
for the story
