2. • GPS - Global Positioning System
• Geodesy - a branch of applied mathematics and
earth sciences, is the scientific discipline that
deals with the measurement and representation
of the Earth, including its gravitational field, in a
three-dimensional time-varying space.
3. GPS technology allows to solve the geodetic
problems of different levels: from the
development of the state geodetic network to
inventory land.
Practice shows that productivity increases by in
tens times.
4. Depending on the required accuracy of the
coordinates, the time limit on the
measurement conditions of work, apply GPS-
receivers of different types, but they all work
in differential mode and are phase.
The most widely received in the CIS single
frequency phase (L1) apparatus, because, on
the one hand, the two-frequency 2-5 times
cheaper, and, on the other hand, provides
sufficient accuracy for most practical
applications.
5. National Directorate of France CNASEA is working
on the creation of an inventory of the former
French colony of Mayotte. Required
measurements on the territory of 375 square
kilometre were performed for 15 days with using
GPS- receivers PathFinder Pro XR from the
company Trimble. When using traditional
geodesic methods it would have taken about 15
years.
6.
7. The specialists of JSC "ZapUralTISIZ" used a
Trimble receivers 4000ST for work on the
development of geodetic network in Ufa. Two-
person crew built a triangulation of 15 points
for 5 days, whereas the use the existing
methods of geodetic measurements performs
the same work team of five people for 2
weeks.
8. In general, the use of satellite location
determination system greatly simplifies the
work of surveying land, reducing the number
of travel time and decreases the number of
professionals involved.
