A very short and basic explanation of field lacrosse officiating three man mechanics.

Settled play Covers complete end line, his side line, crease and goal On ball referee when ball is at his side of the goal Should make the count (1001 – 1004) when goalie has the ball in his crease Yells SHOT when there is a shot Covers his side line On ball referee when ball is at his side of the goal Helps out Watching the shooter and defense after a shot

5. Face off Says (does not yell): “Down”. Players have to get down in the right stance “Set”. Players can no longer move their stick and hands (Whistle)

6. Face off – break left Lead needs to stay in front of the ball Possesion! Possesion! Possesion! Trail follows the play CBO stands at the right side of the subbox so he can see the box and the field of play

7. Face off – break right Possesion! Possesion! Possesion! Lead needs to stay in front of the ball Trail follows the play CBO stands at the left side of the subbox so he can see the box and the field of play

8. Transition Lead will become the new Trail He will run by the box, to check if everything is in order Trail will become the new lead. Needs to stay in front of the ball CBO will switch to the other side of the box When at midline, he checks for off side and checks in with the new trail

9. Goal – rotation When ball goes in the goal Lead will blow his whistle Quickly confirm with single Put his arms up Run to the crease Signal the goal scorer to the trail Pick up the ball Give the ball to the single Go to single side FO position Trail will wait for the lead to signal Relay the signal to the CBO Get to FO position Single will confirm the goal to lead Get to restraining line in fron of goal Get the ball from the lead Confirm the goal scorer Get to FO position CBO will wait for the trail to signal Relay the goalscorer to the bench
