ICSI is a type of IVF in which a single live sperm is injected directly into the human egg. It is a blessing for couples with infertility, especially those with male factor infertility. Check out this video to know more about ICSI...‼️
2. Parenthood is the most rewarding transition in a couple's
life. But some couples fail to experience this beautiful
transition due to infertility. To curb infertility numerous
treatments are available nowadays, and one such most

3. Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is a
procedure consisting of an injection of a single sperm
directly into an egg in order to fertilize it. This
fertilized egg (embryo) is then transferred to the
uterus of the expecting mother. ICSI is known to be
the most successful form of fertility treatment and
forms almost half of all assisted reproductive
methods.

What is ICSI?
4. ICSI is a type of IVF. The key difference between IVF and ICSI is how the sperm
fertilizes the egg. In IVF, the egg and sperm (of which there are many) are left in a
laboratory dish to fertilize on their own. In ICSI, the selected sperm is directly injected
into the egg.

ICSI Procedure
❖ Hormone regulation for the woman to produce over one egg a month.
❖ Eggs are retrieved from the woman's ovaries through a minor procedure.
❖ The male member is asked to produce a sperm sample or one is surgically extracted
from him.
❖ A pipette is used to hold the mature egg in place on a lab dish.
❖ Immobilizes and picks up one sperm using a thin needle.
❖ Inserts the needle into the egg and injects the sperm into the cytoplasm.
❖ The fertilized egg is now kept under observation and its development is tracked
systematically.
❖ Once it is assured that the embryo is showing all signs of normal growth, it is implanted
into the uterus.

Benefits of ICSI
❖ Compared to traditional IVF, ICSI seems to be more successful in helping those
with male factor infertility to become a parent with their own sperm.
❖ ICSI is an option for couples who have tried and failed at a standard IVF
treatment.
❖ ICSI can be extremely useful for female partners with low egg counts as it helps
to enhance the chances of fertilization.
