New Educational
Standard Approved
In 2015 GURT has facilitated the development
and adoption of a new sanitary education
standard and training course. In July 2015
Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine
has approved the developed education
standard sanitary.
Six VET schools in Ukraine have already launched
the new sanitary training.

58% of entrepreneurs from Cherkasy,

Promoting Changes
Since a successful cooperation within GURT’s
projects aimed on development in rural
communities of Kyiv oblast 2011-2015, the
village mayors in Novy Korohod community and
Druzhnia community of Borodyanka rayon have

community members at the local elections in
October 2015.

GURT Web-Portal: Making Civil Society Voice Sound
GURT Resource Centre continues to transform GURT Portal into civil society media and
communication platform for CSOs and community leaders.
During July-December 2015:
⦁ The number of Web portal registered users has grown by 26%
⦁ GURT Web portal unites the largest civil society constituency in Ukraine
that is 18 600 registered users
⦁ The number of GURT’s newsletter subscribers is over 23 000
⦁ The number of GURTfollowers at Twitter has increased to 4 300
Improvement of Sanitary
Education in Ukraine
Within the project «Public-private partnership to improve
sanitary education in Ukraine» funded by Swiss
Cooperation Office Ukraine and Geberit International
Sales AG, GURT contributes to improvement of the VET
institutions capacity to offer market-oriented, practical
and up to date education in the field of sanitary education
in Ukraine. Six VET schools that are participating in
the project received materials and modern sanitary
equipment to organize training and resource centers
to provide labor market oriented trainings in the sanitary sector.
Start Your Business
Training Program
In 2015 GURT continues practicing community
development through empowerment of entrepreneurs
to become independent and successful community
leaders by providing them with knowledge and financial
support to develop their businesses within the projects
«Development of Small Entrepreneurship in Rural
Communities in Ukraine» and «Development of Women
Entrepreneurship in Ukraine». During July-December
2015 GURT has conducted two «Start Your Business»
trainings for 40 participants. This training program was
focused on providing Support for women affected by the
conflict in the east of Ukraine. «A part of my business was moved into online. So now, I start everything
from scratch. I want to return previous turnover and expand business. That is why I decided to join the
project. I really liked the training. Now I want to develop a sustainable business plan and apply for the
start-up subsidy», – commented Inna Nelipovych an unemployed internally displaced person from
Bucha, Kyiv oblast, who used to have business in Donetsk. Inna was engaged in wholesale trade of
home textiles and was a sales representative of All-Ukrainian company in Donetsk.
International Volunteer Day 2015
On December 5, 2015, the International Volunteer
Day, GURT conducted national consultations «How
CSOs can contribute to implementation of Sustainable
Development Goals?». The event, initiated by The United
Nations System in Ukraine, United Nations Volunteers
and GURT Resource Centre, was held simultaneously
in 11 cities in Ukraine: Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhya, Kyiv,
Kramatorsk, Lviv, Odesa, Poltava, Severodonetsk,
Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Chernihiv. The event aimed to raise
CSO leaders’ awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals implementation, and to provide
to the UN and the Government of Ukraine
a public opinion upon the process of the Sustainable Development nationalization.
The national consultations involved 15 regional partners
and 300 participants.

For 20 years GURT assists CSOs and CBOs in playing significant role in the process
of democratic societal transformations at local level in Ukraine. In 2010 GURT in partnership
with CONCORD platform has facilitate National consultations on CSO development effectivess and
involved CSO leaders and representatives of donor organizations from all regions in Ukraine. The
results of the consultations has been incorporated into 8 Istanbul Principles for CSO Development
Effectiveness, a set of mutually shared values guiding the development work of CSOs worldwide.
Developing Local Communities in Ukraine
Using focused and clear approaches that result in the effective cost-benefit achievements, GURT has
gained a reputation of a leader in the community development area. This reputation serves as a
reliable indicator for our partners and donors to involve GURT in further implementation of projects that
demand high level of professionalism and commitment.
Due to the results gained by GURT in developing local communities in Kyiv oblast in 2011-2015,
GURT has become the member of European Community Development Network being the only
organization outside EU member states.
Citizen Participation Week
On September 26, 2015, 11 regional centers of Ukraine
joined the flesh-mob «InForm your community»,
initiated by the GURT Resource Centre within
the Citizen Participation Week which lasted
from 21 to 27 September in the Central and Eastern
Europe countries. During the flesh-mob over 1500
active citizens from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi,
Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernihiv, Ternopil,
Vinnytsia, Poltava, Kirovograd and Severodonetsk
simultaniously assembled pieces of a great picture
of the symbols of their cities in order to attract the attention of the Ukrainians and to inform them how
important it is to participate in their own communities development. To organize the All-Ukrainian flesh-
mob «InForm your community» GURT involved 10 regional partners and more than 70 volunteers.
Ukrainian School of Self-Help
During October-November, 2015, GURT continued to
train self-help animators and had organized 3 sessions
of the Fourth School of Self-Help in Kyiv. 18 CSOs
and community leaders from different regions of
Ukraine have participated in the project. As a result,
8 self-help groups have been created. The target
audience of the newly established groups include people
willing to raise awareness of financial management;
those who cannot realize their life destination; those who
are searching the way to implement their internal
personality resources; families who got into difficulties; moms-IDPs.
NGO Connection Day 2015
The 8th NGO Connection Day: Upgrading with Windows
10, organized by Microsoft and GURT Resource Centre
(Kyiv, Ukraine), took place on November 23, 2015, in
Kyiv. The purpose of the event was to give Ukrainian non-
governmental organizations the opportunity to establish
partnerships, learn more about the services Microsoft
can provide non-governmental organizations, show them
successful examples of using IT in the NGO sector. The
8th NGO Connection Day brought together more than
80 executives and managers of national and regional
organizations. Nadia Vasylieva, General Manager of Microsoft Ukraine, Natalia Oksha, Deputy Director
of Information and Communication Department of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine,
Pavlo Zamostian, Assistant Representative of the UN Population Fund in Ukraine,
and Bohdan Maslych, GURT Executive Director, opened the event.
